The project that I named "Spectrum V8" has been started. It's named after one of the most popular in 80s gaming home computer Sinclair ZX Spectrum. My new L-shaped home office desk looks boring but it has a glass top. I want to convert it into liquid cooled PC desk where all parts will be mounted under the glass top. This way I will save on buying new PC case and floor space under the desk :) My old home computer is dying and can be qualified to be a part of my antique collection soon. Same time "Spectrum V8" will be a gaming computer for my son. I want him to play something with a name Spectrum too as I did when I was a teenager. The original ZX Spectrum on the picture is following the project. Join him :) #vintagecomputer #classiccomputer #retrotech #oldcomputer #watercooled #zxspectrum #spectrumv8 #liquidcooling #pcmods

Radio-86RK replica soldered by me earlier. I inserted the motherboard into SilverStone mini-itx case. The logo "Intel inside" is a true. I found working I8080 on Ebay. The replica has almost the same set of chips as the original Radio-86RK designed for Russian hobbyists in 1986 and schematics were published in "Radio" magazine for do-it-yourself assembly. The main difference is a memory. The replica has just one 32Kb SRAM memory chip instead of 16 DRAM chips. I soldered an optional PS/2-to-Radio-86RK keyboard converter and skipped the original keyboard for this replica. The schematics can be found on http://radio86rk.pbworks.com #radio86rk #homecomputer #classiccomputer #retrocomputer #russiancomputer #retrotech #oldcomputer #oldtechnology #loderunner

Macintosh Portable, 1989-1991. Nonworking. The motherboard has ugly traces of sticky substance which is actually a liquefied, because of it's age, seal between HDDs halves. Recap is needed also. I like the etched signatures of Apple design team inside the case. Will try to repair #vintagecomputer #classiccomputer #retrocomputer #restoration #retrotech #oldtech #applecomputer #oldcomputer #oldlaptop #macintosh
Macintosh Portable, 1989-1991. First battery-powered Macintosh in terrible condition. The expert team is making very difficult decision whether we want to repair or not ;) To fix, or not to fix? That is the question. Will fix #vintagecomputer #classiccomputer #retrocomputer #restoration #retrotech #oldcomputer #macintosh #apple
Amiga 500, 1987-1992. So far Amiga is my favorite retro computer. Quick sneaky picture of Amiga on top of our fireplace redecorated for the next holiday. Do not tell my wife. :) I placed Amiga there just for a minute :) #vintagecomputer #classiccomputer #retrotech #oldcomputer #retrocomputer #homecomputer #Amiga500
Taking a brake and relaxing listening to Technics SL-1210MK2. Looks like my kids enjoy my last impulsive Ebay purchase. It's a vinyl with rare Bit-quartet "Secret" recorded in 1986. Got it in a perfect condition from US collector. Did not know my kids will ever listen to it.

Long and snowy night with Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K, 1982-1984. CPU Zilog Z80 3.5 MHz, RAM 48Kb, Video 32x24 text or 256x192 7 colors with 2 brightness levels + black, built-in Basic, expansion port, rubber keyboard #zxspectrum #homecomputer #vintagecomputer #classiccomputer #retrotech #oldtech #oldcomputer #sinclair
This is New Old Stock box with 24 Russian microprocessors KR580VM80A (I8080 clone). The stamp on the box says "Feb 198x". Can't read the last digit. I think it's 1987 or 1988. I decided to have some spares in stock for my current and future repair projects and found this deal. Looks like the box was not opened. The processors are packed like sliced cheese with the foil between slices. There is yellowed short manual with microprocessor specs. Made a picture for history :) #kr580vm80a #microchip #microprocessor #russiancomputer #homecomputer #vintagecomputer #oldtech #retrocomputer

Elektronika KR-02 "Radio-86RK", 1989. Cheap Russian DIY computer kit for hobbyists made in 1989. I was asked about sound demo in the comments. The sound on this video goes thru "Tape out" directly to the tape player. This was possible only in BASIC "Micron" using BEEP command. #vintage #homecomputer #vintagecomputer #oldtech #retrocomputer #russiancomputer #radio86rk #kr580vm80a #kr02 #diy
Radio-86RK "Elektronika KR-02", 1989. Russian DIY home computer. Fully restored. Looks like it was damaged by power spike. The schematics were published in Russian magazine "Radio" in 1986. The home computer has only 29 chips. This particular kit included a motherboard, keyboard, power supply, cables and a cassette with RAM test, 2 variants of BASIC, Assembler and Disassembler, dozen of games. The 28 year old MK60-6 cassette is surprisingly completely readable. The case is handmade. Each proud owner of a kit is supposed to build their own case from metal, wood, paper or from whatever they can find. The speaker is also was not included. I refreshed and cleaned the keyboard but left the case as is. Just to preserve the atmosphere of 80s. Specs: 8-bit CPU KR580VM80A is running on 1.77Mhz, RAM 16Kb. Can be extended up to 32Kb. ROM 2kb. Needs a tape recorder to load/save software #vintage #collectable #homecomputer #vintagecomputer #oldtech #retrocomputer #russiancomputer #radio86rk #kr580vm80a #kr02 #diy
