Alright. So, it’s been a while since we played the game THINGS I’M AFRAID TO TELL YOU 🙆🏻‍♀️ It’s probably about that time again, huh?
.

1. My nighttime routine takes me a solid 20 minutes every night (while Kyle rolls his eyes), and my morning one is closer to 30. (Should I do a post on them?)
.

2. We’ve been living in our house for a solid 8 months and there is not ONE single thing on the walls yet, aside from this lil wall hanging behind me, because I needed it for a cookbook photoshoot. I have serious art commitment issues ✌🏼
.

3. I wash my hair 1x/week (😳 I get a legit high off of how much time and $ it saves me). Same with washing my face with just water every night.
.

4. 95 % if the time, I don’t wear makeup or real clothes. Face oils, a power bun and @lululemons is my Steve Jobs outfit.
.

5. Last year, I was diagnosed with SIBO, and have spent the entire year healing my body verrrrry slowly, by staying away from the foods that triggered it. The list of foods I can’t eat is much longer than the ones I can, but I think it’s all about your attitude. As with most things in life, you can be annoyed and feel sorry for yourself when un-ideal things happen, or you can see what that situation is here to teach you. 👊🏻
.

6. I listen to a podcast EVERY single day. I’m totally obsessed. Almost daily, I wonder I should start one myself, but then I get caught thinking: there’s already so many out there, so what’s the point? Or it wouldn’t fit into any set category (business, woo-woo, health, etc) so who would listen anyways? True story. I’m working my way through the thoughts 👌🏻
.
7. For having a food blog, I legitimately spend no more than 10-15 mins on dinner most nights. The amount of times it’s a one-pot meal or leftovers with a salad might scare you. It’s sooo not fancy over here 💁🏻‍♀️
.
8. I have what we call a “cry bib” (which is a big paper towel tucked into my shirt) before I’m allowed to watch any episodes of The Voice or This Is Us 😭😭😭
.
9. Tounge scraping & essential oils: the 2 things I used to roll my eyes and refused to try, that I’m now obsessed with and can’t live without. ✌🏼

I want food to fuel my LIFE, in all its fullness, not a life run by food (prepping, shopping and cooking it especially). Maybe it’s the efficiency freak in me, but I literally LIVE FOR cutting out the crap, and clearing the clutter in any area of life I can.✨

Especially, above all, with food. Because in order for healthy eating to be a normal, happy and enjoyable part of life, (aka, a longterm lifestyle), it has to work within the context of our REAL LIFE. It has to be easy and totally do-able on busy days, otherwise it won’t last.
.

Why? Because it’s not too much to ask. It’s possible. And it’s where the joy can come in. Simplify, upgrade and streamline your food life, and everything else gets easier. Promise 👊🏻

Whether that’s with food, the location & ambiance, the people you’re with and the conversations you have, or the extra bits of spaciousness we leave in the day (the slower starts, the time for coffee and walks, etc)- it’s all focused on the sweetest things in life. The kind of things that fuel and nourish you in such a different way. And the daily joys that we’re often too stressed, distracted or tuned out to pay much attention to.

Why? Because I don’t have time to NOT feel good in my life. So eating well is a non-negotiable. But the time spent in my life doing so? It’s not that much and it’s not that hard, like we’re all taught. ✋🏻

Truthfully, when I was first starting my business, I would do this a lot. Look at others and wish I had or be secretly jealous of their amazing life/house/business success/clothes/trips/husband/car/body... you name it. I knew they worked hard for it, but damn, wouldn’t it be nice?
.

It wasn’t until I learned how to actually take these little pings as a GOOD SIGN. To welcome them as little golden signs to help point me towards the things I also wanted to create in my life. ✨
.
That just because someone else had it, didn’t mean that it was a limited resource. It meant that it was possible. And something I too had, within me, if I stopped blocking it from myself ✋🏻.
.

Think about it. About something you’re jealous of. Or wanting too. Could it be that it’s actually in your reach, if you got out of your own way and stopped making weird excuses? What would need to change in order for you to get there? Often it’s something in our mentality & attitude alone.
.

This little tiny shift has changed so much for me in my life. My fav @gabbybernstein, describes it like a mirror- those people are there to show you what you possess too, inside ❤️

At least in my own life, it’s a much more magical, inspired way to live. And a way that helps you actually celebrate others- to collaborate instead of compete. To be inspired, boosted and encouraged by other people’s successes. Who’s with me? It’s a choice we get to make, and daily 👊🏻 #ahealthylife

For real. Today, I started laughing as I was thinking about it. Living in Seattle, literally so much of my daily life revolves around trying subtly create a more internal and steady sunshine ☀️ : in my thoughts, my music, in my food, in my interactions, in my workouts, and even in all the little nooks and spaces in our house. I literally need them- the tiny reminders of joy and light, otherwise I get lost in the dark.

So, today, bringing it over here: bright citrus on the counter (for this afternoon’s @topochicousa), flowers from the weekend, my greenie little plant friends everywhere, a clean kitchen, mushroom coffee in my favorite mug, a @glassybaby lighting up the corner, palo santo and wild orange oils floating through the air, Whitney Houston bringing her good vibes, and yes. This is how we sunny Monday, no matter the weather ✌🏼

Somebody asked me yesterday: do you ever  you feel weird and high maintenance asking for substitutions or swaps when you’re out?

Being gluten-free (and with what feels like a million other things my body can’t tolerate) for almost 8 years now, my answer is NO. Actually, never. I pick something on the menu that’s the closest to what I need, and maybe make one or two tweaks... but here’s the key: very kindly and like it’s no big deal.
.
I know I value myself, my energy, my body and how I show up in the world, and food is the #1 source of that- so I rarely compromise just to make other people feel more comfortable. Who cares? Seriously. The worst they can say is no, which is just good practice for life. Ask for what you want, boldly, kindly and with so much love, and you’ll never go wrong. 💓

Until I’m up late every single night, jamming on the keyboard (not the fun kind), stressed out and complaining about it to Kyle....kinda like I’ve been doing all week. 😳

It’s semi- ridiculous actually, because it’s a easy fix. Get help woman. Enough with the pride. Who cares!? I’m ready to let go of it.

I used to think “manifesting” was code word for extra woo, and extra weird. But now? It’s something I so fully believe in, rely on, and try my best to do daily. ✨

Truly, the things I’m most proud of in my life (my marriage, my business, my creative works in the world, my friendships, etc ) are a result of committing to it as a practice and ritual in my life.
.

BUT, spoiler alert: it’s probably not the way that most people think: by just sitting back wishing/wanting and hoping for these far-off dreams to come true.
.

Uh, yeah. Well, let me tell you from personal experience: that  rarely gets you far.
.

Instead? I like to think about and marinade in how I want to FEEL and show up in every area of my life. Not about tangible things. Like:
.

How do I want to feel in my marriage?
How do I want to feel in my business?
How do I want to feel in my relationships?
How do I want my body to physically feel?
.
And then, surrendering, trusting, and taking actions that are aligned with that. 💫
.
Why, daily? Because I literally need a reminder about these things every day. Otherwise I forget, get distracted, or fill up my time with things that aren’t life giving. 🙋🏻‍♀️
.
It’s how I’ve learned over time, to get out of my own way. Continually. To clear the clutter daily, so those bigger creations have room to breathe and stretch ✨
.

Mondays are for (extra) messy top knots, pink lips, all day in my workout clothes, and some major MANIFESTING time, at least over here. Tap yes if you feel me. ✨🙏🏻🙋🏻‍♀️ . I used to think “manifesting” was code word for extra woo, and extra weird. But now? It’s something I so fully believe in, rely on, and try my best to do daily. ✨ . Truly, the things I’m most proud of in my life (my marriage, my business, my creative works in the world, my friendships, etc ) are a result of committing to it as a practice and ritual in my life. . BUT, spoiler alert: it’s probably not the way that most people think: by just sitting back wishing/wanting and hoping for these far-off dreams to come true. . Uh, yeah. Well, let me tell you from personal experience: that rarely gets you far. . Instead? I like to think about and marinade in how I want to FEEL and show up in every area of my life. Not about tangible things. Like: . How do I want to feel in my marriage? How do I want to feel in my business? How do I want to feel in my relationships? How do I want my body to physically feel? . And then, surrendering, trusting, and taking actions that are aligned with that. 💫 . Why, daily? Because I literally need a reminder about these things every day. Otherwise I forget, get distracted, or fill up my time with things that aren’t life giving. 🙋🏻‍♀️ . It’s how I’ve learned over time, to get out of my own way. Continually. Because a healthy cocktail or mocktail at the end of a long week (🙋🏻‍♀️) isn’t only about upgrading your ingredients, but your JOY, INTENTION & PRESENCE behind your actions too. Not doing it to tune out, but instead using it as a way to tune in, be more present, and use all your senses and create a beautiful lil experience that you can savor.
