Ideation is one of the most important parts of logo creation. This is the stage after a creative brief where we take off running with ideas. At this point in time, there are no bad ideas - we try to get everything down (roughly) in a sketchbook before selecting our favorites for production. The ideation process can last anywhere from an hour to a few days and is vital to producing quality work. What are some of the ways you ideate?

Our most frequently-asked question by FAR is, “how did you get started in graphic design”? While there are many paths (design school, online courses, self-education, etc.) to becoming a designer, today we’re sharing what worked for us in a fool-proof formula of self-education on the blog. One of our favorite moodboards we've created so far this year - especially since we had so much freedom to play with illustration style, vintage typography, and grungy textures. We love curating client moodboards with inspiring imagery, typography and color for use in creating a brand's overall look and feel.
Logo project for J&J Digs, a vacation rental business based in Brooklyn, NY. Their properties are full of original character, charm, and history. Full client launch on our website:
Meet our Design Director, Meredith. Meredith graduated from UC Santa Barbara and soon began on a path of illustrating prints, building websites, and developing brands. She has been illustrating since the age of 10 and has a tasteful perspective on all things design. You’ll find her in Sacramento embarking on outdoor adventures with her boyfriend and cuddling up with her cat (and personal assistant), BB. On weekends, she is often covered in flour baking the next best treat...Oh, and, did we mention she loves espresso? 📸 @brinkleymaine

We are perfectionists. It takes a whole lot of time to re-design a website (specifically your own) as self-criticism and uncertainty can delay even the most skilled designers. A lot of artists struggle to create a finished product because they're waiting for it to be "perfect", our team included. We've learned this year that perfect doesn't always mean complete, and that a finished product has significantly more influence than a perfect, forever-in-progress draft. This is not to suggest that quantity is more important than quality, but to allow ourselves (and our creative followers) to forget the notion of perfect and trust that your best is more than enough. We are SO proud of the work we've put in on our new site, and we're thrilled to announce that WE. ARE. LIVE.

As we prepare to launch our new website, we can't help but look back at how this all started: as a side hustle. Quixotic was originally an idea for an online print shop that morphed into a full-fledged design agency. We've spent the last (almost) year growing a little too fast for our means, learning what we'd like to focus on and what we'd like to leave behind, and taking on new challenges that push us in a creative direction. Here's to the print that started it all, "not your girl", the catalyst for what later became our everyday.
After four months of design and development, our new website is nearly ready to launch. We can't WAIT to show you our new client projects, booking system, and aesthetic. Stay tuned for our launch date (*hint* next week) and a first look at our completely re-designed website. #dreamdevelopers
