Took me a while to be able to post this. Had to take Marble to the vet 2 weeks ago to let her go. It was incredibly hard but she was basically gone already. Nothing much to say other than that I miss her little butt running around, stealing things and getting in all sorts of trouble.
Love you so much little Marbie. With all my heart. Be good. ❤😢
❤ First of all I want to thank you all for the love and messages we received. It is a heartbreaking time but all the love we have received certainly helped power through it so far. Marble had an incredible hard night after the drain. So bad that our dog came in our bedroom to wake us up. She was scratching in her bed frantically and een i let her out she was confused, running around the apartment scared and in visible discomfort, nauseas and it was of of the hardest things i ever had to watch. The next morning I held the phone in my hand to make the devastating call. But something held me back. I put it down and decided to wait at least one more day. Just one more... During the day she improved immensely, was super hungry and over the course of the day got back to her old (more tired) self. She even played in her tunnel for a little bit. So... not yet!
Now the focus is on getting her back to a healthy weight. Luckily she loves the liquid diet that she got from the vet and is hungry for it all day so no struggles there. I have to prepare it fresh but every time she asks for it she gets it. There is no cure but with the right care we can at least give her a little more time. So as long as her quality of life stays ok I will keep her as comfortable and spoiled as possible.
Thanks again for all the love!
Bad news. Her belly is filling with lymph fluid and she probably has a short time left with us :(. I'm having a hard time dealing with it so ill probably not post for a little bit. The time at the previous owner damaged her organs beyond fixing and the vet said I was lucky to have had her the 2 years that I did. (When I rescued her she was extremely skinny, lethargic and just in overall bad health). I got her back to a better state but now the damage is just slowly catching up on us 😔 thanks for all the support and I will keep you guys posted when there is news. Thanks again. Much love from Marble and me.
Today we are going to the ferret clinic. It's about an hour drive so hopefully she won't get car sick. They want to take a sample of the fluid to hopefully find out what it is. Marble seems to be feeling ok but that belly is just not going down. Will keep you guys posted ❤
Update on Marble's health:
She is retaining about 300 gr of fluid in her abdomen. Vet thinks it's a tumor :(. Just to be sure she is on antibiotics now to see if there is any other cause. Today is the start of the 3rd day of antibiotics and she is peeing some more so that gives me a little hope. Tomorrow we are going on a trip to a vet who is specialized ferrets to see if we can have some of the fluid drained.
Other than her bloated belly she still seems her happy normal self. This picture was taken just a moment ago on the patio. Fingers crossed. Hang in there Marbie!😢🍀🤕
