My first (not to be my last) glazing disappointment. I'm happy with the lids (thank you reliable Wheat). The anatomical heart worked well with Clinton Red. I was hoping for a richer red from The Red Hook glaze on the soon to be finalized tin man's heart locket- but it'll do. The Fog Grey on the brain all but melted away and the vessels are just meh. Was hoping for a bit more green and variety of shade. The Turquoise over Brick (middle) yielded interesting results- but ones I wouldn't use for these pieces (Oz inspired). Still have to make the golden medals to be hung around the neck but torn as to whether or not to start again with the vessels with some really interesting green glazes! Decisions, decisions.
Skull bead buddies that are in need of some cranial shaving so they'll fit in and out of the top lid opening and only two test tiles I could really get behind using. I glazed three pieces last week and they're not anything I tested. Just letting go, but not without fretting #clayscapespottery#clayscapes#letitgo#dearglazegods#effthisshit
Stolen from my sister because this is pretty awesome. Canadian by way of Montreal. Perhaps I should learn the Canadian anthem in French! Now it doesn't feel so weird having a True North tattoo......everything makes so much sense now #clearlycanadian
Back at it with some concerned skulls looking concerned- soon to be a bead stack to hang inside. I smushed the plug topper to this piece soon after. Flipped the sucker over to smooth the bottom forgetting the top was in its place #clayscapespottery#clayscapes
What do you do when the studio is closed to attend #nceca2018 ? Grab a gal pal to hit up the Noodle House for pho then you hit the Everson for some finishing and texture inspiration. Stoked to see work from @peterpincusporcelain right off the bat. A little disappointed the basement of the Everson is no longer brimming with ceramics. Did catch the From Funk to Punk show though.
A fun Friday night that started off with the opening to @sookieka_ show Heart to Heart @clayscapes_pottery gallery followed by some snow and a @syracusecrunch game featuring Bret the Hitman Hart as the token guest and official puck dropper. Not bad. Not bad at all.
Last class of winter semester and not a SINGLE piece glazed. The snow hare vessel is still not dry enough for a bisque so well circle back in a few weeks. I do have test tiles in the bisque fire right now so spring semester I'll start trying stuff out #clayscapespottery#clayscapes
***updated- turns out the founder is a ripe bastard. I deleted my profile. Enjoyed the chronological posts though. DO YOU HEAR ME INSTAGRAM?! FUCK. Could this be the saving grace I've been hoping for to get away from IG's terrible algorithms and ad infested week old feed? I dunno but I'm willing to take a stroll to see what becomes of it.
Tonight's game in the ol' barn brought to you by comped tickets (always), Graham's interpretation of a hockey game (also his pony tail), benching the starting goalie, 3 on 3 at the end of the third tied at 3, an OT period, a SO, and acting like a fan boy for 'Boo' Nieves @boonieves. Thank you @yaronieves for hooking @jessedaino and I up on the sigs!
