My secret to eating lots of fruits and veggies: Eating healthy all the time is unrealistic, completely changing your eating habits overnight is unrealistic. Making small changes one step at a time IS REALISTIC. Try to eliminate the thoughts of "cutting" or "restricting" your diet and instead think about ADDING. What can you add to your meal to make it healthier? Add some spinich to your sandwich, add some kale to your smoothie, add a salad in between lunch and dinner for a snack. Ive found that doing this often leads to me eating more fruits and veggies and having less room for the foods that don't give me the same energy or nutrients. So next time you catch yourself saying " I shouldn't eat this or that", try replacing it with " I should add some of this or that". 🤗 Do you have a trick like this that helps you eat healthier? Don't you love when those funny little coincidences unravel in the most unexpected ways? I had that experience the other day. About a month ago, I found this beautiful woman on Instagram @shebaturk from New Orleans. I ordered her book and am all the stronger for it. I visited @wwltv as a media liaiaon for a client of mine, not realizing thats the news station she works with! I was almost too shy to ask for a photo, but luckily snagged one 😋 So, I MUST recommend you guys buy her book! It's a really inspiring and informative read. I'll put the link to her book in my bio for a week so you guys have no excuse! Also, HAPPY FRIDAY!
I wanted to try something new and share a quote today. I know I am not alone in feeling a victim to my emotions at times. As an artist, and an empathetic woman I found myself often pulled into deep sadness or euphoria. This still happens at times but I'm beginning to realize that the more I can be present, the more I can exist within moments regardless of feelings, the more fullfilled I am. This DOES NOT MEAN IGNORE YOUR EMOTIONS. Instead, I invite you to welcome them, understand them, and let them be. Don't let them carry you away into judgement and assumption. Find the stillness within yourself and get comfortable with it! I hope this helps to inspire you all to accept and love yourselves a little deeper, even if just for a moment.

If you watch till the end, you'll notice my COMPLETE FAIL to catch the ball. Resulting in a large bruise on my chest from getting pummeled by a 10lb ball XD. I've seen this partner excersize all over Instagram recently so mañu and I decided to do it! •••
Besides my fail, I really enjoy this one. You can make it harder by making each other laugh, using a heavier ball, and focussing on really engaging your core. I'll be exploring fun variations of this, so expect to see that soon! •••
Hope you all are having a great week! Feel free to tag me in your favorite partner workouts! Or comment below with your current fav (:
Living in New Orleans can be tough as a plant based eater. There are very few places that have flavorful, filling, good quality vegan food. This place however, is one of the few exceptions. Recommended to me by @soberfitvegansuz -- @breadsonoak is a MUST VISIT for ANYONE in New Orleans. Great variety and quality food (: these are their pumpkin cheddar biscuits that I indulge in at least once every 2 weeks 😋 They're salads are also AMAZING. My personal favorite is their Live Food Salad. So if you live in NOLA and haven't tried this place, you're missing out. #wheretoeatnola
Working on my form but you get the idea! Just a more difficult push up. I like this because you can really engage your glutes along with your chest, arms, core, and back. REMEMBER to breathe. I see so many people taking short labored breaths at the gym. Use your breathe to really feel a movement in its entirety. Breathing helps regulate our speed and our intensity. So use it!! •••
The last excersize in this is just to help engage your lower core and back muscles. This is a great place to focus on your breath. Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!
It never seems to be a big change that truly alters a person's life for the better. It's all the little things. The small steps we take every day to be better from the inside out. So, today I want to invite you to congratulate yourself for something small you have accomplished today. Whether it was to get out of bed, drink lots of water, eat a salad, get outdoors, or connect with your kids. Recognize your accomplishment and realize it's significance. We can't be perfect, but we can learn to be grateful as we take one small step at a time towards a happier life.
Just rolling around and working on my back flexibility again. I think so many people forget to PLAY when they work out. You don't need a gym to work out! You don't need anyone to play or be curious. Just move! I came up with this funny way of doing a push up the other day by just rolling around on the floor and dancing around. If it feels uncomfortable, try something else. I liked this just because I often do this anyway when I'm rolling around.
Part of living a fulfilled life, is feeling sad, pensive, angry, jealous, anxious, and grumpy. Everyone goes through the same thing. Everyone has these emotions. Allowing yourself to express them conciously is what FREES you. It's what allows you to truly feel happiness. Happiness isn't achieved by reaching a destination, but allowing yourself to feel in it's entirety and BE GRATEFUL for any of the feelings that do arise. Emotion is beautiful, unique, and it's what CONNECTS us to each other.
💃Movement is a UNIVERSAL language! When we play, study, and explore our bodies limitations we learn to speak a language of connectedness. You learn to empathize with all living creatures. You don't need a gym or a group class. You only need your body and some curiosity. Focus less on losing weight, or getting abs and shift your focus to learning your body from the inside out!
After all, having a perfect body means nothing if you don't know how to use it!
"The greatest GIFT you can give someone is your TIME because when you give your time, you are giving a portion of your life that you will never get back"
Be stingy with your time, recognize the things that serve you and recognize the things that don't. If you're drained all the time, there is little to no energy left for you to create, enjoy, and love. A better world is created by being a better you.
Smile even if you don't know why. Eventually you'll remember that you are an intentional, crazy happenstance and everything around you is out of your control... Thus, why wouldn't you smile with the weight of the world lifted off your shoulders...
@austinafarthing and I have been getting into partner workouts recently. We're new to working out together like this but it's becoming more and more rewarding. They challenge our trust, and our strength. •••
I'm realizing more and more that fulfillment comes from the healthy relationships around us. It comes from working hard on things and seeing measurable improvement. •••
So grab a friend, family member, or lover and start working on building something together (:
