Playa Montaña Pelada is another gem on Tenerife! It's a small, tranquil beach, secluded by tall and impressive stone formations.
Perfect for a quiet afternoon without any screaming tourists next to you! Disfrutaaaa! 💙🏊🏻
Another day, another pastry!! And this one is so delicious too!! Tenerife, you really got me with your many dulcerías!
This time I went into Pastelería La Princesa in La Laguna. The outside wall of the shop is bright green, so you can't miss it. And inside it's so wonderful - just a cute little room full with all sorts of sugary delights! So many colours and even more options! I went for a pastry with my favourite dulce de leche.. Every bite's soft and crunchy at the same time, and like a dream..!! And this mega topping of dulce de leche at the top - just ahhhh!! Go grab yourself one of these and hit the streets - but beware, La Laguna is home of lots of pastelerías..!! 🍰🍩
This was the longest and most interesting hike I've ever done! And most exhausting :P
We started in Punta del Hidalgo and finished in Cruz del Carmen, after five hours of walking (including into the wrong direction for a bit..). If you wanna look up the trail online, it's called PR-TF 10 (we went via Las Carboneras - that's the PR-TF 10.1 trail). I loved seeing all these rough mountains, especially from that height. Nothing beats looking into the distance and just looking at green nature and blue skies.. There were also so many little houses in the middle on nowhere. I was asking myself why they were built in the first place and how people who lived there (if that even was the case) got their food and water. It seemed like you could only get to the houses by foot, so that would make delivering goods even more difficult.. But see for yourself! Walk next to beaches, cliffs and inside forests on this awesome route and enjoy!! ⛰🌱
Pink pink pink!! I've seen so many beautiful sunsets on the Canaries, and this is one of the top ten! The colours are divine!! Pink's also great on nails, preferably combined with ANY kind of glitter! To satisfy my nail polish craving, I went to Ella Manicura Express in Centro Comercíal Meridiano.. Great spot for a nice mani when you're missing all your nailpolishes at home! Which really's the case with me.. I like that you don't need an appointment there, you just show up. The gel nails cost me 16€, that's good, no? Had gel nails done for the first time, so you tell me. Usually I paint my own designZ :P 🌴💅🏼
I found pastry paradise in Santa Cruz!!! After a shop lady gave me some tips on where to find the sweetest sugar in town, I head out to convince myself of her top pastry places. And I found heaven in Pastelería Soto on Calle Salamanca!! The place is so tiny, but jam-packed with all sorts of sweet delights!
After deciding for around 2 hours, I finally ordered the strawberry pastry you see in the first photo. Mmmmm!! So if you love checking out local food and especially desserts, visit Pastelería Soto with some people, order everything, and head to the next park to devour it all in peace!! And do a carb and sugar cleanse after that, you'll need it... 🍰🎂
There's a 24/7 library in Santa Cruz!! How unexpected!
I went in there, and had a look at some books about advertisements from the 60s to the 80s - so much more interesting than the ads being thrown at us these days.. More inventive, creative and above all, fun and colourful!! The library's located in @teatenerife, which also hosts art exhibitions. If I lived there, I'd hang out in the library a lot.. People there keep super quiet too! 🎨📖
Saw these super cool plants at the Palmeton in Santa Cruz!! I love love love the green & pink combo of the first one! How beautiful is it?!? And look at the second photo - this looks like huge, solid grass!! I've never seen anything like it before!! And the third one is just so nice and dreamy.. Reminds me of a similar plant I spotted in the botanical garden in Gran Canaria.. 💚🎍
In Santa Cruz there are a couple of great pâtisseries to get your appetite going (even if you've just stuffed your face to the limit)! One of them is El Aderno, where I discovered that you can not only climb Teide, but also taste it! There was even "snow" on it! The icing sugar was sprinkled over a chocolate mousse exterior which covered a mango filling - so so good!! Definitely head there if you want to enjoy a different kind of dessert - and check out the rest of El Aderno's beautiful display! 🍰🗻
Look at this super colourful building!! I really like the beach theme and colours. Maybe it's about showcasing Tenerife in the 21st century? It could be about almost anything.. Art, am I right? :P
Anyway, the graffiti scene on the Canaries really is something.. You wouldn't expect that from "just some small islands in the Atlantic".. But there are so many things Canarians are just better at!! 💚🍇
That peak in the distance is Teide! Was really cool to see it from another angle, and also from the sea!
There were also so many dolphins swimming alongside our boat, very nice!! It's like they were playing with us!
So if you can and want, do a boat tour. They're always fun (when the waves allow!!) and you might even bump into some dolphins and other marine animals!
Our tour started in Los Gigantes and went direction Masca.. Might go again someday! 🐬🛥
If you're into paragliding and landing directly on huge plazas in front of big churches, then Candelaria is the right town for you!
It's also very nice for walking around, grabbing something to eat, walking around, grabbing something to eat.. Pretty much how I like experiencing a place :P I went to Candelburguer for a nice arepa, and to El Guanche for fat churros with hot chocolate (not the beverage, but actual thick, melted choc). It was a very yummy day!! P.S. Zoom in on the photo and you'll see a paraglider close to the churchtower. If I'd be able to land inside an arepería, I might consider paragliding to :P ⛪️🌮
Vilaflor! A very beautiful tiny little village in the mountains - do bring your layers people!! I was lucky the sun was out!
It's very lovely to walk around, absorbing the peace and quiet, admiring peoples' beautiful vegetable gardens and wild growing flowers.. And after all that's done, you're gonna be hungry and cold!! I went into a cosy restaurant and got myself and onion soup - don't know if I've EVER been served something that piping hot in my life.. Well anyway, that soup and the electric heater working on my feet did the job and warmed me up properly!! I felt like I was on a skiing holiday, and not on an island with sun and beaches!! Do visit Vilaflor, it's gonna be nice!
Heading to Masca? If you're looking for a place to sit down before starting your hike there, go to La Piedra. The cute restaurant in the small town has a super lovely courtyard with lots of potted plants, some hanging baskets and all sorts of beautiful details to "ooooohhh" over! I loved it there - I'm such a sucker for hippie bohemian deco!! 💚🎍
Another local spot for filling yourself up is El Cine in Los Cristianos! There are only a few dishes to choose from, so if you fancy some tasty seafood, this is where you have to go!
I love the simplicity of Canarian dishes, and here it doesn't get any more simple. They'll bring you all sorts of seafood, papas arrugadas and my favourite tomato an onion salad - fuss-free, with big bottles of mojo rojo and mojo verde on the side. Here it's about you coming to eat, and nothing more than that. Munch, digest and spread the word!! 🐙🍤
Wanna go jumping off cliffs? Then go to Montaña Amarilla and start your hike there towards Montaña Roja. It'll take you about 20-30 minutes to reach the spot. The hike itself is very nice too, there's always something interesting to see.
You can practice your free-climbing on the cliffs, and you might even reach the top if you're good (about 8m above the sea). If you're less of an adrenaline junkie like me, jumping off 2-3m will do too. Even without jumping at all you'll enjoy it - the spot is beautifully quiet with an amazing view across the sea. And the turquoise of the water on a sunny day is just gorgeous! 🦀💎
