McGill Crunches, another one of my core staples! If you want to gain control over your abdominals and build a really strong core, then these are a MUST to add to your workouts!
*️⃣ Here’s what you do:
1️⃣ Lay on your back, face up, on a mat with your knees bent and your feet planted
2️⃣ Let your tailbone roll away from you, creating a slight arch in your back, while your head and shoulders lay flat on the ground
3️⃣ Tuck your tailbone towards you while at the same time lifting your head and shoulders off the mat and bringing your elbows into your ribs
4️⃣ Hold the above position while actively engaging and squeezing your core as tight as you can for three seconds, and then release
5️⃣ Repeat steps 2-4

Gaining control over your core, and all of the muscles in your body, comes from the ACTIVE ENGAGEMENT of your them - i.e., not just moving through the motions but actually contracting your muscles yourself and feeling each muscle work. That is what matters most: that you FEEL your muscles working, you FEEL them engaged.

30 days into Summer Shredding and I’m already 10 pounds down! My weight and the pictures on the left were taken the morning of March 15th and my weight, the pictures on the right, and the video were taken yesterday morning, April 13th. If you guys have been following along on my story (there’s a Summer Shredding Story Highlight in my bio), then you’ve seen that my calories and macros have been relatively high and still, look at how much progress I’ve made!

Week 1 calories were 2,700, Week 2 were 2,600, and the last two weeks, 3 & 4, I’ve held at 2,500. Granted, some of my weight difference is definitely water weight, but man do I feel great right now! I’m currently lifting four days/week with a lower/upper/lower/upper split plus 2-3 sessions of cardio, each with a 300-calorie burn goal.

And the best part about it all, I’m not restricting myself whatsoever! Point in case, I had a whole point of Halo Top last night AND a huge ass, 350-calorie cookie! 🍨πŸͺ I just make sure everything fits my numbers and that’s it! No stress, enjoying life, eating great, and producing results! πŸ™Œ It’s crazy what you can accomplish when you just commit, put the excuses aside, and trust the process.

Incline dumbbell bench, one of my favorite chest exercises to do. When doing any sort of dumbbell bench, because you’re not using a barbell, which stops your range of motion when the bar touches your chest, the dumbbells can be lowered past your chest plane. This is why it’s super important to pay close attention to the way your elbows and arms move to avoid potential shoulder/rotator-cuff/upper-chest injury.

Each time you lower the dumbbells down, make sure to slightly rotate your palms inward, which will shift your elbows down, in, and closer to your ribs. This will make for a smoother motion through the exercise versus keeping your palms facing forward and your elbows out wide. The latter palms-forward, wide-elbowed position puts a lot of strain on your shoulders, rotator cuffs, and the small muscles in your upper chest and too much strain over long periods of time = no bueno! πŸ˜«πŸš‘
