This was taken just over a month ago. I had a fantastic week in Scotland working on my winter climbing. All the practice will come in handy for Chamonix in July. The photo makes this look significantly harder than it was!
Expertly guided by Steve at @westcoast_mountainguides and great to have @michael_hellyer on the other end of the rope. Massive thanks to both of them for a great week.
A few weekends I took some of the guys from BS8 up to Snowdonia. Amazing blue skies and still a decent bit of neve to climb. Took the guys through ice axe arrests and some winter skills and then we climbed A Gully on Y Garn. Im finally in one of these photos. #snowdonia#climbing#BS8ClimbingClub
After arriving in Snowdonia early Saturday morning (1am), quick kip and then starting our day late we ended up topping out Cneifion Arete in the pitch black. During the day visibility was awful but as night rolled in we were greated by a clear sky.
I was delighted that it was cold enough for our rope to freeze!! ❄️❄️ But sadly not cold enough for a proper winter climb . Crampons were on but mainly for dry tooling, didn't touch our axes.
Seniors direct -> seniors gully -> Cneifion arete.
