Let's not approach this path as a trend, as just another "cool" thing to do. That is akin to receiving a precious gem and merely using it as a door stop. No. This path is a gift, one that we are not truly deserving of, yet it is given nonetheless. Let us use this path as it was intended: to give us the key to unlock the Truth of who and what we are by discovering the very source of our being.

Questioner: How do I deepen the experimental understanding of who I am?

May the blessings of the Most High be with you always, “You” cannot deepen anything, no one has ever deepen in this understanding.  What is truly discovered, by the sheer Grace of the inexpressible One, is that the one who is trying to deepen in understanding, the one who is trying to “get it” the one who is trying to grow spiritually is merely a thought construct.  This one is not true, at least in the sense that it has inherent existence outside of the existence of the True One.
The instruction has been made clear by countless masters through space and time. From the sanctified Moses' encounter with the burning bush to bring forth the revelation of “I Am that I Am” to the modern era where the great sages instruct us to focus the attention on our “I Am.” To deepen this understanding, by the permission of the Exalted One, simply stay focused on your very sense of existence, our very sense of being.  Pray to not let your habitual thinking move you away from this sacred place.  And then release any and all desire to get anything out of this path.
For in so doing, you will discover that merely sitting in your own presence is the full culmination of the spiritual path, for to sit in your own presence is to sit in the presence of the unspeakable one.

Some sitar practice. Started out as a basic improvisation, but I liked how it turned out so I decided to record it. 😁

You start off as a seeker and if you are earnest in your seeking you get absorbed...
The seeker vanishes in the discovery...
The seeker BECOMES the discovery... You cannot find the separateness...

The human soul is commanded to abandon all and plunge into the Beloved. The only way to attain the goal of mystic Love is to lose one's head beneath Love's Own Most Merciful Sword. ~Sheikh Nur al Jerrahi (Lex Hixon)

Q: How can one tell if the voice from within is the voice of God or from the ego?
A:If you even need to ask that question then be certain it's only ego.
From when God speaks to you "you' will no longer be present to hear. No. In such mystic rapture God is speaking solely to Himself. Yet, "we" hear his voice and are humbled by His wordless word, His thundering Silence.
When God speaks, there will be NO doubt in the same way that you have no doubt as to the heat of fire.

Q: I've been studying spirituality and doing various practices for years and I don't feel like I've gotten anything out of it. Would you be able to offer some guidance?

A: Have you introduced yourself to God?

Q: Not quite sure I follow... .
.
A: You have been spending your time trying to learn, trying to be taught something that cannot be taught.
The inner sciences is simply this: love God.
Yet, how can one teach one how to love?
How can one teach one to melt at mere thought of the Beloved?

You must fall in love yourself. Allowing oneself to simply fall deeply into the unknown abyss that is His being.
To form this relationship, one begins by introducing oneself to God.
Form this relationship. Let it built. Let yourself fall in love. In this, all that you are seeking will fulfill itself.

~Removing The Shoe From The Temple~

Once someone asked me, “Why do saints seek divine annihilation
And are often humble
And like to spend their free time
Upon their knees?”
.
I replied, “It is a simple matter of etiquette.” .
.
Then they said, “What do you mean, Hafiz?”
.
“Well,” I continued,
“When one goes into a mosque or temple
Is it not common to remove what
Covers your
Feet? .
So too does it happen
With this whole mind and body—
That is something like a shoe sole—
When one begins to realize
Upon Whom you are really standing,
One begins
To remove the ‘shoe’ from the
Temple.” ~Hafiz~

We need to learn to accept ourselves as we are without adding anything regardless of how spiritual it makes us seem.

Essentially, love, love, and more love.

God is a tricky One.
Ha, like a beautiful damsel playing hard to get.
A cosmic striptease in the night of the soul.
Merely igniting a yearning that lovers rarely feel.
Sit within your Silence and you will discover that it never ends. It is of unfathomable depths. Before Him, all the great masters are mere teething babies before the cosmic Throne.
To think that we try to speak of Him in words.
HA! Fools we are. Fools indeed.
But the Holy Lord, His compassion, His Love, lets us play our feeble roles.
When God touches your heart how can we continue to speak when the bumblebee’s discourse makes the world's great scriptures appear like crayon scribble in an afternoon daycare?
The mind cannot grasp this anymore than a blind, deaf and dumb person can understand the harmonies of a Mozart Violin Concerto.
Oh, the hell with you O, mind.
When God touches you, touch back.
Let Him orchestrate your Life.~Agnisattva

The Lord gave me my name. Oh, what a beautiful gift. What a beautiful gift indeed.
Yet, where in my heart can this gift be kept?  Where in the altar of my soul can this sacred gift be venerated?

Oh Lord, how can I accept such a gift

when my true name was uttered in silence?

Yet, how can I turn such a gift down?

Beloved Father, what a difficult situation you have placed me in.  To be offered That which you yourself know is unneeded.
Yet, to come from You, what a blessing, what a form of love.

I have no name, for sounds cannot capture me.

I have no name, for words cannot understand me.

Anything I try to say about myself is only going to be an approximation.  Yet sadly, this approximation is as vast as night and day.

What is my name?

The name that all beings share.

Who am I to have a name of my own?
What am I to assert myself within a sound?
When I have heard Him speak my true name, what else is needed?
When I have heard my true name uttered within the sacred halls of infinity, what else is there to be said?

Yet it is within this play that my name can be spoken.

Within this divine play, your true name is embraced.

From this place, the name placed within the altar of my soul can be properly venerated.

From this placed the gift bestowed upon me by my Lord can be truly put to use.

It is only when we allow ourselves to die to all that is untrue, it is only when we allow ourselves to die to our stories of who we are and what we want this like to be that we can truly be resurrected in God's love.
Happy Easter to all. May the story of the resurrection inspire us all to resurrect ourselves in Truth.

The stakes are high for real prayer.
You must gamble yourself
and be willing to lose.
When you have done this,
and your self shakes off
what you believed your self to be,
then no prayer remains,
only a sparkle of the eyes.
Knower and known are one.
