Oftentimes folks are mostly concerned about the preparation and presentation of a single dish, making sure each flavor is balanced and each ingredient is prepared properly. What gets lost sometimes is the progression of a meal: How the first dish effects the reception of the second, the second to the third, and so on. It requires a lot more focus on the balance of things, but also gives you lots of room to get creative.
Tolkien once wrote "If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world." Getting your friends together, making a shitload of food, drinking beers and listening to music. It really doesn't get much better than that.

Zabaglione for dessert this evening. It's great to be back home after a long trip to Kiev, Ukraine. (3.5/5) For those who don’t know what Zabaglione is, it’s an Italian dessert (generally a custard) made of whipped egg yolk, sugar, and Marsala wine. I’ve never had the dessert custard before but this gelato tasted very sweet and slightly alcoholic.
