The gardenia bloom is arguable the most fragrant tropical we have in the garden center.
Some people who are sensitive to scents should probably test the flower before bringing it home to enjoy.
Like the hibiscus plant we featured yesterday it is wise to care for these plants in pots so you can move them around and indoors if you want to try and save it from our Canadian winters.
The gardenia is a little more difficult to care for since it does like a little less sun.
It also prefers a moist BUT well drained acidic soil with lots of organic matter.
Once the bloom is spent you should prune it back and tidy the branches to keep the plant in good condition.
