Emerging from a vipassana meditation retreat in the woods and relating to impermanence a little better than I was going in.
Thoughts come and go. Emotions come and go. We come and go.
I practiced letting anything that came to mind flow through. Some mental stories are stickier than others, but with awareness, we see them for what they are - just “movies” and not reality.
The movie might offer an insight or inspiration, but we don’t need to keep rewinding the scene or imagining alternate endings 🎬

까르마(Karma), 업. 행위의 따른 인과 법칙. 빛과 어둠이라는 조건에 따라 드러나고 사라지는 그림자 처럼, 우리의 육체와 정신에 쌓인 까르마는 잠재 의식 속에 머물러 있다가 주변의 조건이 맞으면 언제든 다시 성향을 드러낸다. 그러나 이것은 거스를 수 없는 세상의 흐름이기에, 까르마를 벗어나는 방법은 그것을 벗어나겠다라는 생각에서 벗어나는 것이다. 따라서 이번 특강에서는 요가수련자로서 갖추어야 할 까르마에 대한 바른 이해를 선행하고 자신의 육체와 정신에 어떤 까르마가 잠재되어 있는지 알아차리며 그것을 인정하고 수용하는 시간을 갖고자 한다.

Ashtanga Yoga의 핵심적인 구성요소인 Tristana에 대한 올바른 이해와 수련
요가에 대한 관심도가 높아지면서 아쉬탕가 수련자도 급격히 늘어났습니다.
수련자들은 아쉬탕가 요가 수련을 통해서 요가의 8단계를 자연스럽게 점진적으로 성취해 나갈수 있게 됩니다.
그런 아쉬탕가 수련에 있어서 반드시 필요한 필수 요소가 있습니다.
Breath, Banda, Dristi 이 세 가지가 결합된 Tristana가 그것인데요.

Monday move. Fire hydrants with a little hip extension and resistance. ⬆️
This is a great move post pregnancy once you are cleared by your Dr/Midwife. .
Simple yet effective: placing the theraband around my thighs makes my hips work harder to both stabilize and strengthen the hips. .
Placing my forearms on the blocks keeps me of my wrists (great if you’re dealing with some temporary wrist pain/discomfort). .
In the video I start by just going to the side. If I can maintain good stabilization on the supporting leg/hip side - meaning I do not drop and raise the pelvis from side to side. Then adding the hip extension and rounding it out to the side is a great bonus to strengthen my hamstrings and get controlled movement in my hips. .
What to look 👀 out for:
1️⃣ Collapse in the midsection- maintain a sense of wrapping around the abdominal/trunk
2️⃣ Collapse in the shoulders - keep pressing the blocks down into the floor - lift the shoulder girdle up off the heads of the humerus.
3️⃣ When extending the thigh at the hip joint behind you, maintain the tone of the abdominal wall - watch out for excessive lumbar (low back) extension.

I used to be grounded in my practice and enjoyed seeing the progress I was making. Then one day I just stopped. Life piled up on me and I acted as though I didn't have any time to practice. Today I decided not to lie to myself and just do it. It was frustrating to have such difficulty doing positions I once did with ease. It was a little annoying having to use the wall again. I had to stop and just breathe for a minute. I remember feeling this way in the beginning of my practice. This is just a new beginning. #movingmeditation#yogapractice
