In my opinion, Humanity would gain a lot more if we left off the discussions about cultural appropriation, spent less energy protecting what we consider to be ours and only ours, spent less time clinging to the grudges of the past and instead devoted ourselves to sharing with each other what is worth sharing so that together we can be better people and build a better world in spite of our origins. Because in the end our origin is the planet Earth and we are all brothers and sisters.

#yogainaction Day 7: #shareameal The ideal was to a prepare a meal and share it with with someone, but that didn’t happen today (though I plan to follow thru on this one soon) Instead, I invited @prplg3rl to dinner. She cooks a lot , but her kitchen was (literally) demolished today so it seemed like kismet. She chose a neighborhood favorite where we share meals often. We had the entire restaurant to ourselves (so it was sorta like I had her over). It’s a small, friendly family run place and the sweet busboy is being promoted— tonight he was training as a waiter. He’s seen us a thousand times but he was adorably nervous, even as we tried to be the best customers ever. I’m lucky to have this woman as a friend, confidant, cheerleader, taskmaster, proofreader, and TV show recommender. Was a treat to surprise her by picking up the check. Participating in this 7days of #yogaoffthemat goodness opened my eyes and my heart to how easy (and good) it is to fit the #realyoga into everyday life (now if I could just get to the dang mat). I’m disappointed the formal structure of it is over but I have some ideas of how I plan to continue. Thank you @kazcastillo & @mysore_sf for hosting and to all the #ashtangis around the 🌏 for sharing your stories. I LOVED seeing #yogaposts that weren’t “Yoga Photos”. #8limbs#yogainactionchallenge#beofservice#bemindful#benice#maketheworldabetterplace#connect#morethanasana#love
Tat – that [detachment]
Param – the best
Puruṣa – the absolute nature Consciousness
Khyāti – knowledge and fame
Guṇa – fundamental nature of matter
Vaitṛśṇa – freedom from material desires ” Greater than detachment from the material world is to lose all interest in the very fabric of our reality. This comes from experiencing the nature of Consciousness.” Enlightenment is an endless journey; it has no destination only pure bliss at every stage.
Patanjali says that there is always something new to discover in this journey and so it is really not about where you go, but how you get there!
This is very comforting because it gives the seeker relief from how near or far they are.
Patanjali reiterates that spiritual life is not about reinforcing the ego. It is about conquering it. He describes in this verse, a very high state of consciousness that is even greater than the detachment discussed in the previous verse.
Sometimes you just need a moment. A little break from reality to regather and centre yourself 🌅Our remedy is nature: the little whistles of birds early in the morning, the sounds of waves rolling into the shore, a blue horizon, tall trees that rise up above our heads. It makes us realise how lucky we are to witness this beauty that is Mother Earth 🌿
