At the end of 82km, when all I could do was cry and swear ‘never again’, @sboddeus was there to help piece me back together. I don’t think I could have got through the day without him crewing me, navigating to each checkpoint via public transport with all my bags in tow. Knowing he was there kept me going right until the end, and I could not be more grateful ❤️

There’s something special about waking up early and running. For me, I don’t get the same sense of achievement when I run later in the day! Been on the struggle bus with my workouts last couple of weeks and not finding enough hours in the day (I’m getting old, I know) #ChiMarathon training starts next week so I better quit slacking.
I’m thankful for friends like @noelleuvinha who refuse to give up on me. 4:45AM alarm sounded insane but so glad I got up and got my ass out the door! 5 miles in awesome company!

Happy Wednesday y’all! Make it a sweaty one!
So I wrote a really long post about the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Apparently it was too long for an Instagram caption so here’s the gist of it, the rest is on the blog if ya want it!
✨My jeans are tighter.
✨Hard workouts require longer recovery.
✨I haven’t had any terrible aversions but my husband has laughed a lot at a few weird things that ended up in our pantry for the first time.
✨I have to pee a lot (including every night between midnight and 2am, like clockwork). ✨Paul Tripp’s “Gospel Principles for Parenting” is doing a number on my heart. Sometimes the gospel strikes you in a new way, and this book has been a chipping tool on this “naturally overly dependent on the law” heart of mine.
✨If you made it this far whohoo! Haha thanks for following along on this new and different journey! I know many of you followed me through hitting some great racing goals, 2 - BQ attempts, and being apart from my husband for 6 months and I’m so grateful to have you around!
6km easy paced on the #treadmill this morning ✔ Avg pace 5:42/km Avg HR 138bpm. Kept it inside today because unfortunately the wind yesterday aggrivated my hayfever a bit and now I'm sneezy and my eyes feel like sandpaper 😣 I don't like taking antihistamines during the day because they make me drowsy (and I have to chase 2 kids all day 😂) but I will definitely take one tonight because I can't let something silly like sneezing affect my race! If someone could DM me at like 8pm to remind me that would be so awesome 😂 Luckily, I don't get it too severely, it's just a nuisance. Also, if anyone has any natural hayfever remedies to share I'd love to hear them! I'd definitely prefer a natural remedy than a pill. Happy humpday friends 🐪
I figured out in my thirties what lights my fire and I’ve been chasing matches ever since.
There’s just not a lot of opportunities in everyday life to feel like a genuine badass. I don’t know about you, but I don’t finish a long day of grocery shopping, answering emails, mopping floors and trying to remember 7th grade algebra and think “get out of my way life, I’m comin’ in hot”. Those days are satisfying in a different way. So those times when your soul feels like an unstoppable forest fire set ablaze and it hurts so freaking bad that it’s amazing - you smile.
Chase your matches friends.

⌚️ Mona Fartlek: your opinion - is this marathon specific enough? I would have thought so considering it’s in many #marathon training plans I’ve seen. Plus, wasn’t/isn’t @stevemoneghetti a marathon runner? I read something online this week that said these kind of speed workouts don’t target aerobic threshold & therefore are wasted sessions for the marathoner 😱 I did it tonight anyway & it was awesome fun! Keen to hear from those smarter/more experienced than me ✌🏽 @funrun75 @jason_monty @m_mac88 @pbdownunder @runwithkat
WHERE’S YOUR FOCUS?👇🏽
THE STRUGGLE OR THE BLESSING
This morning I was just thinking how EASY it was to focus on whatever struggle you’re going through. So like, right now- I’m dealing with this dumb . and I’m literally doing EVERYTHING to expedite my recovery. And I was thinking, that just a couple days ago my focus on was on my achilles- and obsessing over that. My point is that I can let myself dwell on all the struggles- without giving the blessings in my life the proper focus. In my head, the blessings can’t compete with the play time I give to the struggles.
.tunderface gave me some real talk the other day- when I may or may not have had a mini cry sesh because this achilles thing can be an emo rollercoaster. He was just like- you’re in the best shape of your life. You haven’t missed any workouts because of your achilles. You’ve been rehabbing it and it IS getting better everyday. FOCUS ON THAT. You couldn’t do that through a real injury- this is just something you’re working through.😌
I don’t want my whole life to pass and all I’ve done everyday is focus on the struggles. That would make me so sad. 💙I would rather spend the bulk of my days focused on the incredible blessing it is to be living this great life. And maybe a minute here or there giving attention where it is needed to taking care of the struggles.
👉🏽What we focus on grows & magnifies. I’m only going to give that focus & attention to things that deserve it. And there are way too many great things going on deserving of more attention than a couple of little bothers. ☺️
Gonna go to bed early (before 8 pm) because I’m getting this body back to healthy & strong asap! 😌😍

RUNNING FOR REAL
I’ve got into the habit of listening to running related podcasts on my commute to and from work to fill the time productively. One of my favourite ones is @tinamuir88 podcast called ‘Running for Real’. I especially enjoyed her latest episode in which she interviewed her friend Susan Lacke who is a writer for several running and outdoors publications and is the author of the book “Life’s Too Short to go So F*cking Slow”.
This podcast really blew my mind - many of the things Susan said I can relate to on so many levels, when I look at my own running journey!! For example, running has reminded Susan that she is not perfect and not the best, but it gives her an outlet and reminder to always be her true and honest self, not some view of who she should be. At the end of the day, what really matters is that you try to be the best you can be with what you have!
What’s your favourite running/fitness/nutrition related podcast?

I ❤️ POLAND 🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱 BIAŁO-CZERWONE SERCE
Całości dopełnia Irena Czerwona i gotowe! 👌———————————————————————
WHITE AND RED HEART
I am proud of where I come from. More and more often we start in various places around the world. We often want to show where we came from, what country we represent - it also helps to communicate with other runners on the route.
Polka Sport created a girl's T-shirt in white and red colors:
❣️ front of the heart with dots ❤,
❣️ on the arm, the flag 🇵🇱 and the inscription "Poland".
❣️ The subtly and girly, but the most important elements of national identification are. 😉
❣️For this the great quality of breathable, lightweight fabric and waist-cut.
The whole is completed by Irena Czerwona and ready! 👌——————————————————————
Last day before heading to France and time to shout out to Simon for his donation 🙌🙌. Here we are mid sweaty bike ride in Shaxi just before we lost our cameraman @andymcnamee1 into the back of a passing truck. 🙈
Thank you so much for all the support and donations to date - you are incredible. .

Rock and roll half marathon Part 3.
Id done it. I waited for the rush of endorphins, the feeling of accomplishment being proud and it never came. I stumbled to my medal and couldn't help staring at it, because in my head I didnt deserve it. Sunday took me 3hr and 50 minutes. My slowest half marathon so far. Now, yes I completed it. I may have walked alot of it but I still completed it. I covered 13.1 miles but despite this, I never got that what I wanted. To feel proud of myself and to feel like id accomplished something great. And that, was the hardest thing out of the day. Not the pain, the tears. The feeling of why have I just done that? What was the purpose? I still haven't felt it, whenever anyone asks about Sunday, I mumble it was horrendous, feel the tears starting and steer the conversation elsewhere. Im sure in a few days, ill realise despite my lack of training, the heat, I did something great. But, I just want to move forward and aim for the next one and not think about this one. Im sharing this because I want to be honest, running is amazing. It can make you feel incredible. But there are those odd occasions it doesnt and I think its only right I share those runs as well as the good ones. Thanks again for all your words of encouragment and I hope that despite seeming a miserable so and so, you can understand why I feel the way I do. #halfmarathontraining#halfmarathon#inspiringwomenrunners#instarunner#instarunning#igrunner#womenrunningcommunity#womenrunner#womenrunning#womenrunners#thisgirlcanrunning#thisgirlcan#thisgirlcanrun#rnrliverpool#rockandroll#rockandrollhalf#liverpoolrocknroll#runningcommunity#runner
How do you breathe when you run? 🏃🏻♀️🌬 I’ve been trying out a new technique (well, new for me anyway) after reading a @runnersworld article, “I Got Faster by Breathing Better” (link in bio if you’re interested☝🏼). It uses a five count pattern for slow to moderate runs, and three counts for faster running - that’s two breaths in, one out, timed with cadence. Takes a bit of getting used to and I haven’t quite mastered it yet but I’ve been consciously practicing it during my long runs. I’ve also been testing it out racing when I’m feeling fatigued or on early signs of a stitch and it seems to really help. I feel much easier on the run or the stitch never eventuates. Do you follow a breathing pattern for a more efficient run? Your thoughts?💁🏻♀️ #runnersworld#breathingtechniques#runfaster#halfmarathontraining
Liverpool Rock and Roll half, part 2.
I felt the heat and the pain after mile 3. By mile 6 I was in agony and managed to walk run to mile 8. By mile 8 I felt a mess. A sham. I was walking because every step hurt. I walked to mile 12, tears a regular occurrence. The marathon runners were running past me cheering me on, words of encouragement making me cry as I felt I didnt deserve them. I had set off before them and they had almost completed a marathon my the time I'd nearly done a half. As I got round that corner and saw the sign for mile 12 I cried more. I was going to see Becca @redfaced_runner soon, a friendly face on what felt a very empty course. I decided to test my ankles out, if I ran the sooner I saw her and the sooner this nightmare was over. Soon Becca was in front of me cherring those bells, being wonderful and I chocked up. I could feel the tears threatening to spill so I nodded and thanked her before somehow stumbling on. I kept going, my ankles were somehow holding on. I walked a little but then kept going. I knew I was nearly there. I came round that corner and I saw the finish line. The tears came again. Id done it. As I came down the last straight, it was the surrealist moment. No other runner came past me. Every person cheered for me. And me alone. The cheers spurred me on and I crossed that line. My living, painful nightmare over. #halfmarathontraining#halfmarathon#inspiringwomenrunners#instarunner#instarun#instarunning#womenrunningcommunity#womenrunner#womenrunning#womenrunners#thisgirlcanrunning#thisgirlcanrun#thisgirlcan#runner#running#runningcommunity#rnrliverpool#rockandroll#liverpoolrocknroll#rockandrollhalf
Liverpool Rock and Roll Half, Post 1. ..
Sunday was always going to be hard but I never realised just how hard. I had given myself roughly 6 weeks to train for a half marathon, not all my own fault as there was a house move, my mum admitted to hospital but there was also a lot of laziness. Through out the 6 weeks I struggled with my mental health and in turn my self belief, it didnt matter how much encouragement people gave me. The doubt was still there. Somehow though I powered on, I rarely missed a run as that fire was in my belly. I so so much wanted to cross that finish line, feel proud of myself. Running seemed so hard as my untrained body didnt understand what was going on and it took a while to remember what to do. Slowly improvements in pace and distance were coming but I only ever reached 6 miles in training. I knew though, whatever happened I was going to liverpool. The rock and roll half was my first half and I was determined to do it again a year later.Sunday seemed to arrive so quickly but it came with heat and nerves. Im not good in the heat at the best of times so to have to run in it was my worst fear. #halfmarathontraining#halfmarathon#inspiringwomenrunners#instarunner#instarun#igrunner#womenrunningcommunity#womenrunner#womenrunning#instarunning#womenrunners#thisgirlcanrunning#thisgirlcanrun#thisgirlcan#runner#running#runningcommunity#rockandroll#rockandrollhalf#rnrliverpool
