F U E L : A mad week at work often means nutrition slips first. After a day of minimal water, let alone lunch, I’m refuelling on this oh so delicious omelette. It’s filled with sausage, chorizo, cheese and onion. I’ve served it with a sweet potato salad and it is all tasting incredible. For me, nutritious food needs to be tasty, quick and nourishing. Despite all the constant stressors in my life, the high expectations I hold of myself, the weight I hold on my shoulders; I choose to stay calm through it all. I’ve learned (the hard way), that if you can do anything at all, you should CHILL THE F OUT. Life is way way way too short to be stressing about silly things. Life flows and ebbs exactly as it should, just trust that 🙌🏼 within just 2 weeks of being home, reducing my stress levels, minimizing environmental stressors, and having the opportunity to cook and eat what I want, train how I want, and so forth, I’ve had noticeable changes In not only my mood but my appearance as well AND I’ve finally (FINALLY) been visited by aunt flooow after a year and six months (sorry not sorry if that’s TMI) Anyways, this rant is now over, but just stayyyy calm y’all 🙌🏼

Women our bodies are amazing and simple as well as complex and it is so beautiful! 4day detox again! •

So.... I just got back from ANOTHER trip. This time I went to Dallas with my family for a conference that was deeply nurturing to my passionate heart. We road tripped so I meal prepped our first 3 days worth of food. It was worth it. On Sunday we enjoyed a fabulous brunch with all kinds of sweets, cocktails, dairy and coffee. It was a meal worth the splurge. I’m SO glad I didn’t splurge the whole time. My body handled a road trip like that better than ever. The day after I’m not as exhausted as I expected to be. Eating healthy is worth it when it helps you feel this amazing. •  I am now in the dreaded Luteal phase. This is still my most difficult phase. Last month I bloated and retained tons of water, gained 10lb and broke out. STILL no more mood swings, THANK GOD! And my breasts have gone from being sore for 5 days before I start to being sore only 1 day! Knocking symptoms out one at a time! •
 This Luteal phase I’m being proactive by doing the 4 day detox DURING my Luteal phase, before symptoms get bad. All of my symptoms point to estrogen not being eliminated in a timely manner. This detox cleanses my liver and colon to get that estrogen out fast! •

Homemade protein bites, ingredients below.
I needed something quick and stupidly easy to grab first thing in the morning while getting ready for work. #womancode recommends taking in a protein-rich something within 90 mins of waking up, with no time for breakfast until I get to work at 8.30 and waking up at 6.00 I needed something for that period in between to get the metabolism going. 2 of these each morning should do it.

Makes 16 balls:
3tbsp peanut butter
4tbsp wholemeal flour
1 slice worth of brown breadcrumb
1cup rolled oats
1 heaped tbsp chow seeds
1tbsp poppy seeds
Dash of water

Combine ingredients in a mixing bowl, rub together, form into balls and leave to cool in the fridge.

I was listening to a podcast this morning that mentioned how decision fatigue can start early in the morning if we spend too much time thinking about our outfit. By the end of the day, we don’t make good decisions because we are so tired of thinking and would rather do what is comfortable than what is right (hello junk food and binge-watching Netflix). I think Steve Jobs had it right with keeping it simple and wearing a uniform everyday although I couldn’t wear the same exact thing on repeat.

Additionally, a lot of my recent health issues originated in my endocrine system and this book gave me a much deeper sense of awareness about how that system works and how to nurture it. It’s a good hormone balancing blend and also helps promote hair growth and healthy skin! Roasted Nori Sheets are one of my favorite hormone balancing treats during my menstrual phase. We use a lot of sister protocols in the CEP (why reinvent the wheel right?) and one of them is used to balance hormones. 
Clients with multiple autoimmune and neurological disorders often have imbalanced hormones, causing mood swings, temperature dysregulation, chronic fatigue, and more. 
One way we can support their bodies is by teaching our clients how to regulate their hormones using foods and lifestyle changes in multiple ways to both support proper hormone regulation and to prevent disruption.

This menstrual friendly meal has chopped red cabbage, smashed avocado and some baked fish wrapped in a roasted seaweed wrap for my lunch, topped with Asian flavors like ginger and wasabi powder. 
i simply used leftover veges and meat from the night before and wrapped and flavored them in a new way, creating a new meal without cooking. done in minutes! (like 2). What do you have in the fridge that you could wrap in some seaweed with some ginger, wasabi and some veges? Try some out and let me know what you like in your nori wraps... I bet chicken would also be good.

Because of my skin issues, I decided to lower my caffeine in take. On the days I do consume caffeine I always drink it on a full stomach (keeps the energy highs and lows at bay). I also add collagen and adaptogens in order make them pack a real punch! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

While I still do love the taste of coffee, I almost as equally love the taste of matcha. It’s time release caffeine so it’s a lot more sustainable for your body to handle (no crash or jitters) and it’s chalk full of antioxidants (1 cup of matcha is like drinking 15 cups of regular green tea with how many antioxidants you’re in taking!). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So here’s my go to recipe to make your own creamy, frothy matcha: 
1 tsp @davidstea matcha matsu 
1 tbsp @nutiva coconut manna 
1/2-1 tbsp of maple syrup 
1/2-1 tsp cinnamon 
1.5 cups hot (NOT boiling- it’ll burn the tea!) water ⠀⠀⠀⠀
BLEND ON HIGH
Done.
* ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Optional, but highly recommended: 
1 tbsp @organikahealth enhanced collagen ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 scoop @vitajingherbs rhodiola. This is like my own natural antidepressant. It lowers cortisol, reduces mental and physical fatigue and brain fog, and improves brain function. I’ve experienced a huge difference since taking this for the last 6 months. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 scoop @vitajingherbs he shou wu. It makes me feel more calm and balanced, which it is known to do since it is an adaptogen. Just gives me that extra boost of stability both mentally and physically for my day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Home from our mini vacation in Charleston! Got food poisoning while we were gone so I have been very dehydrated and drained, so today was my first day working out this week. The workout started off hard, I got dizzy, but I pushed through and it ended up being a great session!

The Live Collection launched in the middle of winter and yet its pieces are still best sellers. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a winter collection because it can be worn the majority of the year and in some places, year round. ⠀

It got me thinking about seasonal collections. As a fashion designer, I feel external pressure to release new designs before the season starts. By those standards, my summer collection is really late and honestly, that thought has been stressing me out. ⠀

A friend lovingly reminded me that my next collection will be released at the exact moment it’s supposed to be. This is slow fashion right? Time and care goes into each design to ensure it fits you best. ⠀

I got caught red handed eating @cappellos cookie dough right out of the package 🙈. But I don’t have anything to feel guilty about because this cookie dough is vegan, grain free, low glycemic and gluten free, and still somehow so DELICIOUS that you’ll need to buy two packages at a time. One to eat raw and the other to bake. .

So I'm currently doing the #womancode 4 day reset to help support my liver in its natural detoxification process, support my adrenals & rebalance my hormones. I've learned a lot reading this book (if you can't tell by this well worn copy-- it's traveled with me a lot) and still have so much to learn about living in my flow. I'll be honest, it hasn't been easy. Work has been a little all over place & i've been doing my best to rest & flow through the process. Either way, I'm learning about my body.

Why is it so hard to talk about our periods? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Because society is based on patriarchal points of view, periods have been categorized as something so taboo. That offends me because periods are glorious. They’re a huge indicator of good health. So no, they’re not the devil, they’re part of life and it’s beautiful to see our bodies at work (I mean, shedding your uterine lining without dying is pretty bad ass 🤷🏻‍♀️). If your period is horrible, then that’s a neon sign from your body that something needs to be fixed and that’s on you to make a point of finding out what that means for you and your body. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So with that all in mind, I share all of this with Jonathan. He knows my most common PMS symptoms, he knows when I get my period, he knows which part of my cycle I have the most energy (so he can plan get togethers with friends), and that I want to be left alone during my period (or snuggled when I tell him to hehe). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Ultimately he doesn’t find it weird, because hello! It’s not! He knows that it’s part of being a woman. Sometimes I need to remind him of certain things, but the point is is that bleeds are not taboo in our house and I want to encourage you to open the lines of communication with your partner about this just like you would anything else. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you’re a man and you love someone with ovaries, take their hormones seriously instead of using it as a cheap shot like, “oh are you pmsing right now?!” 🙄. In reality you’re making fun of her health and who ever said that was okay? Instead, listen to her, support her- every bit of her, even her period and hormones, because caring about her COMPLETE health is a huge part of being a truly present partner. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

My rising energy in inner spring brings positivity, a sense of weightlessness and a happiness that seems far easier to both reach and sustain. I love seeing this mirrored in the world around me - the long days, the sunshine, the hedgerows bursting into flower. There’s something about spring that is utterly joyful; perhaps it’s the sense of anticipation, the knowing that it all lies ahead and this is just the start. I try not to have a ‘favourite’ phase of my inner cycle but, outwardly, spring is one of my favourite seasons and there is something particularly special about the month of May here in the U.K. ♥️

I used to find magic in big city taxis that smelled of cigarettes. With an intoxicating buzz on my way to wait in line for a nightclub to flash my underage ID. Even more thrilling? Not planning how to get home afterwards because, yolo. I’ll figure it out 🤷🏼‍♀️ .
But not anymore.

Now I find magic in a refreshing swim. A barefoot walk on lush green grass. A deep inhale of salty ocean air. The sound of my daughter belly laughing when my husband chases after her. Trying something new and pushing past my comfort zone. And yeah, maybe a bit of tequila in Tulum when I’m feelin’ jazzy and the stars align ✨

So what changed? I stopped listening to the limitations other people put on me. I realized it’s not narcissistic to love myself and know that I am worthy of all that I desire. And I know that health is the key to unlimited potential 💚

So happy to get home in a couple days and tackle some health related goals of mine- one being an elimination diet and the other quitting hormonal birth control... 2 big things on the list for me this year that I have been waiting for the right time. More details to come and please do let me know if you’re interested in an elimination diet as well because I will be making a grocery list and menu plan 😁💯

She let go of all the anxiety that kept her from moving forward. She let go of all the planning and all the calculations about how do it just right.

She didn’t promise to let go. She didn’t journal about it. She didn’t write the projected date in her day-timer. She made no public announcement and put no ad in the paper. She didn’t check the weather report or read her daily horoscope. She just let go.

She didn’t analyse weather she should let go. She didn’t call her friends to discuss the matter. She didn’t do a five-step Spiritual Mind Treatment. She didn’t call the prayer line. She didn’t utter one word. She just let go.
