💜NEW PODCAST ALERT: @morningmatcha "This week hormone biochemistry geek, functional nutritionist, and epigenetic genius Alisa Vitti helps us harness our hormones for optimal living (read: more energy, less depression, and skin that glows). Alisa is a regular contributor for CBS, Fox, Shape, Women’s Health, MindBodyGreen, and The Huffington Post and famously made history on the Dr. Oz Show by discussing one of the last taboo topics (menstruation) on national TV. Actually, she went one step further and used mashed fruit as a prop to explain how to ‘read’ your menstrual blood for hormonal imbalances. Respect! Now, the hormone whisperer helps us translate our bodies’ personal messages and provides guidance on the right diet, exercise, and self-care routines depending on your flow. If you’ve ever struggled with imbalances or are curious to learn more about the majesty of your woman code, Alisa is your go-to expert. Period." In this Episode, Alisa discusses: -PCOS

This is how I’m doing life. Faith + Oils💛👆🏽🍃 The person who sent me this oil as a gift may not know it, but she has had a greater impact in my life than she’ll ever know. I’ll be forever grateful for her kindness + belief in me.💛
“Spent today in a conversation
In the mirror face to face with
Somebody less than perfect
I wouldn't choose me first if
I was looking for a champion
In fact I'd understand if
You picked everyone before me
But that's just not my story
True to who You are
You saw my heart
Something out of nothing
I don't need my name in lights
I'm famous in my Father's eyes
Make no mistake
He knows my name
I'm not living for applause
I'm already so adored
It's all His stage
He knows my name”
*old pic-I’m not stage lean all year LOL* Calm. It’s as simple as that. Despite all the constant stressors in my life, the high expectations I hold of myself, the weight I hold on my shoulders; I choose to stay calm through it all. I’ve learned (the hard way), that if you can do anything at all, you should CHILL THE F OUT. Life is way way way too short to be stressing about silly things. Life flows and ebbs exactly as it should, just trust that 🙌🏼 within just 2 weeks of being home, reducing my stress levels, minimizing environmental stressors, and having the opportunity to cook and eat what I want, train how I want, and so forth, I’ve had noticeable changes In not only my mood but my appearance as well AND I’ve finally (FINALLY) been visited by aunt flooow after a year and six months (sorry not sorry if that’s TMI) Anyways, this rant is now over, but just stayyyy calm y’all 🙌🏼

4day detox again! •
So.... I just got back from ANOTHER trip. This time I went to Dallas with my family for a conference that was deeply nurturing to my passionate heart. We road tripped so I meal prepped our first 3 days worth of food. It was worth it. On Sunday we enjoyed a fabulous brunch with all kinds of sweets, cocktails, dairy and coffee. It was a meal worth the splurge. I’m SO glad I didn’t splurge the whole time. My body handled a road trip like that better than ever. The day after I’m not as exhausted as I expected to be. Eating healthy is worth it when it helps you feel this amazing. • I am now in the dreaded Luteal phase. This is still my most difficult phase. Last month I bloated and retained tons of water, gained 10lb and broke out. STILL no more mood swings, THANK GOD! And my breasts have gone from being sore for 5 days before I start to being sore only 1 day! Knocking symptoms out one at a time! •
This Luteal phase I’m being proactive by doing the 4 day detox DURING my Luteal phase, before symptoms get bad. All of my symptoms point to estrogen not being eliminated in a timely manner. This detox cleanses my liver and colon to get that estrogen out fast! •
I’m looking forward to getting rid of those PMS symptoms!! #shannonswomancodejourney#lutealphase#livercleanse#coloncleanse#balancehormones#myflo#floliving#womancode
Shoulder work from last night! The current plan I’m on doesn’t dedicate a whole lot of time to shoulders so last night I took the entire workout to focus on my favorite muscle group and I enjoyed every minute. Don’t forget to do or incorporate things to make you enjoy your fitness routine!
We are beautiful, complex, and evolving every single day. We have periods that determine the state of our health. We can grow human beings inside of us, even multiples at the same time! Our cycle informs and inspires our moods, cravings, productivity levels, and exercise patterns. ⠀⠀
We are the everyday woman, but we are more than what defines us in the everyday. We are more than just labels, sizes, and clothing. We are empowered females with strong and resilient bodies. ⠀⠀
Welcome to the Sotela everyday woman community. We are more than just clothes, but also an inclusive space that honors and celebrates females in all their forms. Illustration: @dropcapdesign #sotelaeverydaywoman#bodylove ⠀⠀
Buying into deprivation diets or crazy workout plans that ignore the importance of cycle syncing your exercise will only hurt your chances of true hormonal healing and the benefits that come with it: clearer skin, less bloating, and steady, sustainable weight loss. This week on the blog we’re talking about steps to have clear skin (less bloating and more!) for good! Link in bio to read the full article. 📲
How do you get ready in the mornings? Do you like spending time thinking about your outfits or would you rather plan the night before?
I was listening to a podcast this morning that mentioned how decision fatigue can start early in the morning if we spend too much time thinking about our outfit. By the end of the day, we don’t make good decisions because we are so tired of thinking and would rather do what is comfortable than what is right (hello junk food and binge-watching Netflix). I think Steve Jobs had it right with keeping it simple and wearing a uniform everyday although I couldn’t wear the same exact thing on repeat.
Would you wear a uniform? What would it be? #sotelaeverydaywoman PC: @greyandelle @_drnadia_

Ok so I've only just downloaded the sample so far but I'm already hooked. So interesting! I was on the pill for years off and on and I'm sure it's affected my fertility. It's surprising how little we know about our own bodies and are not taught in school (that's for another post) but are quite prepared to just pop a tablet each day with no real understanding about how it works and what side effects it can lead to...
At my doctor’s recommendation, I recently picked up WomanCode by Alisa Vitti of @floliving. I LOVE this book and I can’t stop talking my friends’ ears off about it! It was my first intro to #cyclesyncing , a concept that makes so much sense to me that I can’t believe I’ve never heard of it before. Additionally, a lot of my recent health issues originated in my endocrine system and this book gave me a much deeper sense of awareness about how that system works and how to nurture it. I’m currently working through the first step of her protocol, which is balancing blood sugar, and loving the calming effect its having on my body. #health#wellness#floliving#alisavitti#bloodsugarbalance#womancode
“Don’t eat anything incapable of rotting” - Michael Pollan 💜 Are you aware of how the food you eat effects your system? Have you tried cyclesyncing? This is a great starting point for seeking hormonal balance and yes... clear skin! 📷 via @alphafoodie and quote via @thealchemistskitchen
Sunday night...making my first batch of @freeandnative herbal infusion recipe with goji berries, nettle, and red raspberry leaf. It’s a good hormone balancing blend and also helps promote hair growth and healthy skin! And goji berries are a superfood high in antioxidants and nutrients 🙌🏻🌱☕️ oh and I bought a pound of the loose herbs on amazon so I’ll be drinking this for the next three years...😂 does anyone else have good infusion recipes?
Roasted Nori Sheets are one of my favorite hormone balancing treats during my menstrual phase. We use a lot of sister protocols in the CEP (why reinvent the wheel right?) and one of them is used to balance hormones.
Clients with multiple autoimmune and neurological disorders often have imbalanced hormones, causing mood swings, temperature dysregulation, chronic fatigue, and more.
One way we can support their bodies is by teaching our clients how to regulate their hormones using foods and lifestyle changes in multiple ways to both support proper hormone regulation and to prevent disruption.
This menstrual friendly meal has chopped red cabbage, smashed avocado and some baked fish wrapped in a roasted seaweed wrap for my lunch, topped with Asian flavors like ginger and wasabi powder.
i simply used leftover veges and meat from the night before and wrapped and flavored them in a new way, creating a new meal without cooking. done in minutes! (like 2). What do you have in the fridge that you could wrap in some seaweed with some ginger, wasabi and some veges? Try some out and let me know what you like in your nori wraps... I bet chicken would also be good.
To try these roasted nori wraps, check out this affiliate link and get yours, i particularly like the roasted ones, i think they are more yummy than raw ones! https://amzn.to/2IuLR97

Seriously. Green magic potion in a bottle. Who would have thought Chlorophyll water would be my new jam. NEW LIFE GOAL- find a place that sells this on tap 😍😍😍 who else has tried this tasty elixir !? #poweredbyplants#drinklife#drinkgreen @drinkverday @itspostworthy
Ok ladies: line or no line? I SWEAR in person there is the faintest line, especially when I hold it up to the light. Im CD11 today and already had my period so this didn’t amount to anything. BUT- I’m convinced I had a #ChemicalPregnancy . First #AF was 2 days late and then this test!! Do you see the line?👀
Look what arrived yesterday! So excited to enhance my training @f45_training_henleybeach with #tropeaka lean protein and BCAA+.
Week 4 on the #f45challenge was a big training week for me. I did 5 classes hard, I can now do proper push ups and my weights have increased. I’m feeling strong and it’s the best feeling
Week 5 I am not going to push as hard because of where I am in my cycle. I’m a believer in #cyclesyncing for optimal energy, wellbeing and health, and to do that I have to listen to my body when it says it’s time to slow down. 🧡✨🍃
Literally had do this video again because ran into someone else before 😂 decided to pause it this time! /
Hormone health is not just for women of course, there will be similar help out there for men. We are aiming to target the main stressors- emotional stress, blood sugars, deficiencies, supporting your adrenals and helping elimantion organs to works properly (liver, large intestines, lymphatic system and skin.)
Anyway this book @womancode is especially for women and the aim is to get to the route of your health problems and understand your endocrine system better so you can eat to support it! I'm going to report back soon with how I'm finding it.😍
>>>>check these out!
Everyone- @foundmyfitness Ladies- @floliving
You guys are all very aware of how much of an advocate I am for turning yourself on throughout the day... aka #dailypleasure . Making a drink for myself everyday is probably one of my favourite ways to do that (with dancing in my car as a close second 😂). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because of my skin issues, I decided to lower my caffeine in take. On the days I do consume caffeine I always drink it on a full stomach (keeps the energy highs and lows at bay). I also add collagen and adaptogens in order make them pack a real punch! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While I still do love the taste of coffee, I almost as equally love the taste of matcha. It’s time release caffeine so it’s a lot more sustainable for your body to handle (no crash or jitters) and it’s chalk full of antioxidants (1 cup of matcha is like drinking 15 cups of regular green tea with how many antioxidants you’re in taking!). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So here’s my go to recipe to make your own creamy, frothy matcha:
1 tsp @davidstea matcha matsu
1 tbsp @nutiva coconut manna
1/2-1 tbsp of maple syrup
1/2-1 tsp cinnamon
1.5 cups hot (NOT boiling- it’ll burn the tea!) water ⠀⠀⠀⠀
BLEND ON HIGH
Optional, but highly recommended:
1 tbsp @organikahealth enhanced collagen ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 scoop @vitajingherbs rhodiola. This is like my own natural antidepressant. It lowers cortisol, reduces mental and physical fatigue and brain fog, and improves brain function. I’ve experienced a huge difference since taking this for the last 6 months. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 scoop @vitajingherbs he shou wu. It makes me feel more calm and balanced, which it is known to do since it is an adaptogen. Just gives me that extra boost of stability both mentally and physically for my day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I hope you enjoy this potion so “matcha” 🤣, I definitely do every single time! And tag me in your #dailypleasure so I can repost you!! Okay, babes, enjoy the long weekend and take care of your ovaries!! 💕💕
Home from our mini vacation in Charleston! Got food poisoning while we were gone so I have been very dehydrated and drained, so today was my first day working out this week. The workout started off hard, I got dizzy, but I pushed through and it ended up being a great session!
I hope everyone has a great weekend! Will you be watching the royal wedding?
The Live Collection launched in the middle of winter and yet its pieces are still best sellers. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a winter collection because it can be worn the majority of the year and in some places, year round. ⠀
It got me thinking about seasonal collections. As a fashion designer, I feel external pressure to release new designs before the season starts. By those standards, my summer collection is really late and honestly, that thought has been stressing me out. ⠀
A friend lovingly reminded me that my next collection will be released at the exact moment it’s supposed to be. This is slow fashion right? Time and care goes into each design to ensure it fits you best. ⠀
So I’m taking my time working on fit and fabric because you are worth it. And as a little reminder that Sotela’s pieces are seasonless, here is @life_simplified wearing the Stella jumpsuit with a bandana, straw tote, and sandals. #sotelaeverydaywoman

I actually liked the taste this time around! 💕 so cheers to day 2/30 😊 @medicalmedium
So I'm currently doing the #womancode 4 day reset to help support my liver in its natural detoxification process, support my adrenals & rebalance my hormones. I've learned a lot reading this book (if you can't tell by this well worn copy-- it's traveled with me a lot) and still have so much to learn about living in my flow. I'll be honest, it hasn't been easy. Work has been a little all over place & i've been doing my best to rest & flow through the process. Either way, I'm learning about my body.
One thing that's been really important the past couple of days has been using my essential oils to support this process. I've been using grapefruit, console, elevation & rosemary to support my liver and adrenals. Why these for?
Grapefruit: helps support the liver in it's natural detoxification process & helps boost the metabolism. One drop in 8 ounces of water🙌🏻
Console: to support the liver
Elevation: to support my adrenal glands-- couple of drops in the diffuser
Rosemary: to help support the adrenal glands-- a drop on the bottom of my feet
Want to get your hands on essential oils to support your daily lifestyle? Shoot me a DM for a FREE wellness consult with yours truly Or head to the link in my bio:)
Why is it so hard to talk about our periods? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because society is based on patriarchal points of view, periods have been categorized as something so taboo. That offends me because periods are glorious. They’re a huge indicator of good health. So no, they’re not the devil, they’re part of life and it’s beautiful to see our bodies at work (I mean, shedding your uterine lining without dying is pretty bad ass 🤷🏻♀️). If your period is horrible, then that’s a neon sign from your body that something needs to be fixed and that’s on you to make a point of finding out what that means for you and your body. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So with that all in mind, I share all of this with Jonathan. He knows my most common PMS symptoms, he knows when I get my period, he knows which part of my cycle I have the most energy (so he can plan get togethers with friends), and that I want to be left alone during my period (or snuggled when I tell him to hehe). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ultimately he doesn’t find it weird, because hello! It’s not! He knows that it’s part of being a woman. Sometimes I need to remind him of certain things, but the point is is that bleeds are not taboo in our house and I want to encourage you to open the lines of communication with your partner about this just like you would anything else. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re a man and you love someone with ovaries, take their hormones seriously instead of using it as a cheap shot like, “oh are you pmsing right now?!” 🙄. In reality you’re making fun of her health and who ever said that was okay? Instead, listen to her, support her- every bit of her, even her period and hormones, because caring about her COMPLETE health is a huge part of being a truly present partner. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Happy loving, babes! 💗
💐HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALISA💐 Today is our founder’s birthday. She is the heart and soul of #FLOLiving . The creator of #MyFLO . The Author of #Womancode but most importantly a friend, a teacher, a mother, and a beautiful example of what it means to be a woman who supports the women around her. She is spending her birthday giving a Facebook love on when to see results from hormonal changes and a free webinar on clear skin! I mean, come on! What a legend. Join us in wishing Alisa a VERY happy trip around the sun! You are so loved!💜
Whoever said eating clean was boring? So stoked on my breakfast sandwich this morning: @udisglutenfree toast, @primalkitchenfoods avocado oil mayo, avocado, @goldenstatepickleworks kimchi, organic free range egg, and topped with @pearlbutter ‘s adaptogenic coconut butter Glow-Getter. My body and tastebuds are dancing.
Real quick reminder…This is the last call for registering for Alisa’s FREE webinar, Get Clear Skin for Real going live today at 1pm ET.
We’re getting excited to host this session, and we don’t want you to miss it.
Here’s what we’ll be talking about on this live Masterclass: 💜What really causes acne, eczema, and more 💜Which period symptoms and conditions make you more susceptible to skin issues 💜Why you should avoid certain skin treatments 💜What skin products are best (I've tried them all - let's save your $$!) 💜And what key foods and supplements help get your skin healing for real!

I used to find magic in big city taxis that smelled of cigarettes. With an intoxicating buzz on my way to wait in line for a nightclub to flash my underage ID. Even more thrilling? Not planning how to get home afterwards because, yolo. I’ll figure it out 🤷🏼♀️ .
But not anymore.
Now I find magic in a refreshing swim. A barefoot walk on lush green grass. A deep inhale of salty ocean air. The sound of my daughter belly laughing when my husband chases after her. Trying something new and pushing past my comfort zone. And yeah, maybe a bit of tequila in Tulum when I’m feelin’ jazzy and the stars align ✨
So what changed? I stopped listening to the limitations other people put on me. I realized it’s not narcissistic to love myself and know that I am worthy of all that I desire. And I know that health is the key to unlimited potential 💚
So happy to get home in a couple days and tackle some health related goals of mine- one being an elimination diet and the other quitting hormonal birth control... 2 big things on the list for me this year that I have been waiting for the right time. More details to come and please do let me know if you’re interested in an elimination diet as well because I will be making a grocery list and menu plan 😁💯
She let go. Without a thought or a word, she let go. She let go of the fear. She let go of the judgements. She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head. She let go of the committee of indecision within her. She let go of all the ‘right’ reasons. Wholly and completely, without hesitation or worry, she just let go.
She didn’t ask anyone for advice. She didn’t read a book on how to let go. She didn’t search the scriptures. She just let go. She let go of all the memories that held her back. She let go of all the anxiety that kept her from moving forward. She let go of all the planning and all the calculations about how do it just right.
She didn’t promise to let go. She didn’t journal about it. She didn’t write the projected date in her day-timer. She made no public announcement and put no ad in the paper. She didn’t check the weather report or read her daily horoscope. She just let go.
She didn’t analyse weather she should let go. She didn’t call her friends to discuss the matter. She didn’t do a five-step Spiritual Mind Treatment. She didn’t call the prayer line. She didn’t utter one word. She just let go.
No one was around when it happened. There was no applause or congratulations. No one thanked or praised her. No one noticed a thing. Like a leaf falling from a tree, she just let go. There was no effort. There was no struggle. It wasn’t good and it wasn’t bad. It was what it was, and it is just that.
In the space of letting go, she let it all be. A small smile came over her face. A light breeze blew through her. And the sun and the moon shone forever more. - Safire Rose
