📍Bernkasteler Lay Kabinett 2015
↔ Dr. Loosen
📠 Mosel 🇩🇪
💰 16,25€ @elcorteingles
(ZABA 8,2)
For #winewednesday we're pouring 2015 DCV3 Estate Sauvignon Blanc, one of our favorites! DCV3 (Dry Creek Vineyard #3 ) is the crown jewel of our estate vineyards and was the very first to be planted to Sauvignon Blanc in the #DryCreekValley . It was winery founder David Stare’s passion for the wines of the Loire Valley in France that first inspired him to plant such an “unusual” variety. Along the way, he was advised by many experts not to plant Sauvignon Blanc. In typical Dave fashion, he forged ahead in pursuit of his dream. Many years later, Sauvignon Blanc is now the most widely planted white variety in the Dry Creek Valley. So next time someone tells you not to do something, just ask yourself, "what would Dave do?!" 😉
Cheers to #winewednesday from Lynmar Estate Winery!

What’s for lunch today?
We’re having the strawberry bruschetta which is a perfect combination of sweet strawberries, crunchy bread topped with goat cheese and basil and the Winery Cobb Salad which a bowl of Mixed greens tossed in blue cheese dressing. Topped with avocado, bacon, red onions, tomatoes, diced chicken, blue cheese crumbles, and a hard boiled egg. 🥗🥑🍓🍞
Waters Edge Estate in the #SwanValley closed down in 2013. It was a real shame as they had an underground cellar and the property sat right on the river. It was primarily used by Captain Cook Cruises as they owned the property. Before it shut down we naturally stocked up on a few bottles and this 2012 #GreatSouthern#Chardonnay was one of them. It’s actually aged pretty well!
It’s a pale golden straw colour on the eye. The nose is elegantly oaky and buttery with baking spice. While in the mouth it’s so creamy and juicy with notes of honeydew melon and peaches. Surprisingly enjoyable!
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. #Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #tcweekdaywine

Occhipinti SP 68 Bianco 2016 🇮🇹
Golden yellow on colour. Aromas of melon, yellow apples, flowers with a hint of earthiness. On the palate it is fresh and fruity, with flavours of yellow tropical fruit, mango, dried apricots and a long, mineral finish. Very unique and special Sicilian wine! 89 pts. #winefiends
Last week’s Wednesday Wine Story was Chardonnay – congratulations to @wino_dino_ (you’re weirdly good at this!) Time for a new wine: which grape variety are we describing in this week’s short story?
He takes to the stage, self-confident as ever, ready to impress the crowd with his knife-sharp wit. He always manages to create a lively atmosphere, understanding as few others do how he can both proudly represent and take the mickey out of his homeland. But perhaps it is a case of wrong time, wrong place – Graach is, after all, not the same as Berlin. Or perhaps he has simply grown too confident. At any rate, it seems that this time he has unwittingly taken it too far. The audience immediately becomes wrathful, yelling at him and pelting the stage. An entire fruit basket – meant as a present to congratulate him for the show – is thrown from the wings: oranges, peaches, apricots, apples and pears come raining down on him. But there are stones thrown as well from somewhere, and they actually hurt. He flees the stage, jumps into his car and speeds off, following the road along the river. The smell of the fruit clinging to his clothes mixes with the faint scent of petrol, forming a heady perfume that makes his head spin. The tears begin to roll silently down his cheeks and he has no idea where he is headed.
Wine lovers! I’m starting a new #winewednesday series featuring my favorite wine and food pairing of the week! Today I’m featuring this amazing Kite Tail Chardonnay from @cuvaison_wine paired with baked salmon. More details on the wine and recipe on winecountrychick.com. #wotw
This week's Perfect Peculiar Pair is from @lizzietieman and Sheila Morrison.
To commemorate Anzac Day, lest we forget. The subtle creaminess of our Corkscrew Road Chardonnay is balanced by the golden syrup of the historic Anzac biscuit.
