I am super obsessed with Trader Joe's #wildarugula and the baby winter greens lettuces right now. I snagged some dandelion, garlic mustard & violet leaves, plus violet flowers because HELLO gorgeous wild things I get to eat! Then some #koreanchives and #kimchi and a bunch of fresh carrot ginger dressing on top. OH and some leftover roasted cauliflower. It was tasty! #omnomnom
So excited to find and start some wild arugula in the garden this season. Wild plants have way more photochemistry in them- it hasn’t been bred out of them to make them sweeter or more palatable. The problem is our bodies need this diverse photochemistry, in ways science has barely begun to understand. It makes sense though when you consider that our bodies have coevolved with plants for longer than modern humans have been around. Wild foods > cultivated foods. Our #plantoftheweek this week is more of a group of plants, Spring Greens! This lovely green thing right here is WILD ARUGULA, looking right as rain after a chilly night and a morning of sleet and snow. If allowed to naturalize this delicious spicy babe will spread in the garden, push bindweed out of the way and return every Spring for early garden eating! We have happy starts available, of this and many other varieties of Spring Greens, ready for the garden and on special this week 5 for $10🌱🥗🌱!

يوجد انواع كثيرة من الجرجير. بالصورة الاولى تشوفون نوعين من الجرجير.
الجرجير البري (على اليمين) اوراقه مشرشرة وزهوره صفراء اللون وطعمه حاد و قوي.
الجرجير العادي (على اليسار) .قام المزارعون القدامى بتحسين من خواص الجرجير البري لينتجون هذا الجرجير. وذلك لتخفيف من حدة طعمه. يختلف شكل اوراقه عن الجرجير البري حيث ان اطراف اوراقها دائرية ومدببة نسبيا. وغالبا ما تكون زهوره بيضاء اللون. وهذا النوع المنتشر في الجمعيات.
انا صراحة افضل الجرجير البري بسبب طعمه الحاد وعندي شتلتين منهم بالحديقة صار لهم ثلاث سنين متحملين حرارة الصيف ما شاء الله.

An Italian favorite, Wild Arugula has a more pungent taste than regular arugula. The leaves are deeply lobed and contains a leaf shape like Mizuna. Wild Arugula does excellent in the heat and humidity.
Wild Arugula is a great addition to your garden. Grow these beauties and add them to your favorite recipes for an added flavor. We enjoy using them in salads and on pizzas.
