One of the most restricted motions for a lot of you is getting your arms overhead. It's a complex motion with a lot of moving pieces. The shoulder needs to flex. The thoracic spine needs to extend. And the scapula needs to upwardly rotate and posterior tilt. Confused enough yet? 🤪
Let's make it simple. One drill that can hit all of those prerequisites. That's the wall lift off. This drill requires intense focus to make sure that you are doing it correctly and not compensating.
Keep the glutes and core tight and lift off the wall. You should feel the contraction in the middle of your back. That's your mid and lower traps kicking in. SLOWLY progress your way in and you'll finally have the overhead mobility you want.🙆🏻♂️

In almost all sports due to the nature of different game play muscle imbalances are almost impossible to avoid, most leading to injury if left unattended.
However, injury can be avoided by simply training correctly off the field. Unilateral exercises are a great way to ensure strength deficits between limbs are kept to a minimal.
Assisted pistols squats are a great way to focus on unilateral strength and build up musculature on the non-preferred leg along with many other associated benefits.
