Winter Greens with Pesto. 💚
Looking for a quick but nutritious weeknight dinner I settled on salmon with pesto veggies. Who doesn’t love pesto?! Plus I added some crowd pleasing roast potatos... ( I’m a good mum!)😍
We know salmon and it’s awesome omega 3’s are brilliant for brain and heart heath, but by adding a mountain of veggies on the side we are boosting its nutritional value with many more vitamins minerals and phytonutrients.
Here’s how it went:
I roasted a mix of bite size sweet and white potato chunks in a drizzle of ev olive oil, s&p (about 30 mins at 200) Then for the last 8 minutes of cooking I added the salmon to the tray. Meanwhile I mixed up a pesto .. recipe below .. and lightly steamed broccoli and green beans.
Then I mixed the roasted potatoes, broccoli and beans in a bowl with a couple of handfuls of baby spinach so it wilted in the residual heat and stirred through a tablespoon or 2 of the pesto... then served it with the salmon! Voila, wed night dinner done... plus I had enough left for lunch the next day.💚
🌱Easy pesto... I cup basil, leaves and stalks, I clove garlic, I lemon skin removed and chopped, 1/4 cup evoo, 1/4 cup sunflower seeds - blitz in blender, add tablespoon water if you need to loosen. Then stir through 1/4 cup grated Parmesan. ( I used sunflower seeds rather than pine nuts so I could use the rest with spelt pasta spirals for kids lunch boxes in their nut free school!!)🌱
Just imagine the calm in the chaos. Just imagine taking time to recognize your value and self-worth. Just imagine mind-settling silence. Took a few minutes today to sit with my eyes closed, inhaling the scents of eucalyptus and lavender and feeling like I was at the best wellness spa on the planet. #justimagine#eucalyptusandlavender
This is my little cousin (2nd cousin ) Flynn he is such a beautiful boy! I took my wig off yesterday when we were drawing and he then started asking me questions about my hair loss. I wish I caught it all on camera but unfortunately I didn't haha. Children are so honest and he told me I don't like you with no hair you should get it back haha #bless 😊❤️💙
Hey so this was just a sneak peak on what I will be going into next on youtube! Can you guess it?! 💙
It smells like rain 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
And these little beauties are blooming BEAUTIFULLY!!! ✨✨✨ (ps - what is this flower??) 🤔🤷🏼♀️
For us our day consisted of —> waking up (eventually), a meeting upcountry, driving in the pouring rain, 🌧🚘 (so unexpected), library with friends, 📚 (alllll the books), late lunch at In ‘n Out 🍔 (Ruthie said it’s the best restaurant ever) 😄 and home again home again!! 🏡
All of those things scream Wednesday Wellness to me. 🤗🤗
Ok.... maybe not In ‘n Out.
I’ll let you be the judge 😄

Food is medicine. While living in China I started up a #foodblog learning how to cook Chinese family-style recipes. You can check it out on my other Instagram account @ShowShanti. Almost every family that I visited would explain to me that food is medicine. From one ingredient to another they would tell me about what a papaya would do for the skin. Or what a certain tea leaf would do to detox the liver. Or how eating a certain meat during a certain seasons would help to warm the body. Thanks to the scientific method we are able to rely on the testing and results of medicine, but food as well! Today whether I put fruits and vegetables on my plate or in my shakes I keep in mind the value of the food I put in my family’s body. And just the way I love sharing the family recipes I learned in China I also love sharing how good nutrition and food can help us live healthier days.

REPOST 🙌 Please DO NOT WEAR MASCARA on your lash extensions! 🚫🙅🏻♀️ The ingredients in most mascaras actually break down the adhesive and affect the retention of your extensions. 😢 It is very difficult to clean off all of the mascara as it gets oily and clumpy and builds up on lashes overtime. Apart from that, applying mascara adds extra weight to the extensions as well as extra tension. Most people don’t just brush one coat. They brush and brush and brush the product on which pulls on your own lashes and can cause premature lash shedding. ☝🏼 NovaLash does make an extension-safe mascara (no harmful ingredients that can break down the adhesive), but it should only be used if and when you need it to add a little fullness when it gets closer to the time for your next lash appointment. 💖 Remember to use your CleanLash pads to remove makeup, cleanse and condition your lashes, but do not use the night before or morning of your lash fill as the conditioning oils can create a barrier between your lash and the extension/adhesive. Please ask me questions. Aftercare is so important in this beautiful investment you are making. 💗 #themoreyouknow#educate#wednesdaywisdom#wednesdaywellness#cleanlashes#happylashes#nomascara#sflashes#marinlashes#bayarealashes#cleanlash#novalash#novalashusa#extensionsafe#labatribe#labapro#carmabella#lashsafety#lashcare#aftercare
💥💥Wednesday Wellness Tip of the Week 💥💥 ➡️ Today’s Topic: Write your future self a letter 🙌 I have used this exercise with my Life Coaching clients and also with my students who attended my “Release Your Inner Brilliance” course in Killarney.
I got the guys to address a letter to themselves and date it a year from what date it was that day. So I want you to do the same 😊 📝
So for example .. it could look like this:
Congratulations on reaching your target weight loss and sticking to the fitness and healthy nutrition program you have been on. Your commitment to living a healthy life has resulted in many gains in your life in many areas. You are now confident and have peace of mind and you are living at your perfect weight. People are paying you compliments about how you look and you feel great because of it. You are now happy in all aspects of your work and home life. Life is good
As you can see I am speaking in the present tense as if these things have happened and that is the important thing. Don’t use words like “I’m going to try and do that or try and reach my weight loss goals” we aren’t writing New Years resolution type things because if you “want to” or “try to” do things you are are only hoping they happen and not taking ownership of it. Speak it as if it has happened and that on its own can be so powerful trust me. 😊 visualisation is so important and on top of that having something physically written down confining your goals for the year is an amazing exercise and I have had great feedback from it. ➡️ so get that lad and paper out ✏️ Pop the letter in a draw and set a reminder on your phone for a years time or give it to someone to keep hold of and then read it in 365 days time and check if your goals have come true .. I’m pretty sure they will 😊🙌🙌 See you next week
👉WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT YOUR BRAIN?👈 🧠Your brain hardwired and programmed to act in ways that were used during the Flintstone days when we were being chased by animals and saying “UGH,” but they are not well suited to the complex challenges you face today. 🧠I’m talking about the part of your brain known as the AMYGDALA. The amygdala is continually scanning for danger but often gives you inaccurate information, sounding the danger alarm unnecessarily. ✪AND HERE IS HOW THAT PLAYS OUT:
Because your brain is set up to scan for danger zones, you can bet your life that it finds every single potential hazard that may cause you harm. And all this negativity gets stored immediately available for rapid recall. On the flip side of that, your positive experiences ( unless of course, you win the lottery or something) are registered to standard memory systems, and only need to be held in conscious awareness 20 seconds for them to really sink in. ✪THE BOTTOM LINE IS your brain is like velcro for negative experiences and Teflon for positive ones. And this set-up puts a negative spin on the world and intensifies your stress and how quickly you respond to the stress signal. But when it comes to change, the last thing you need is to perceive what's happening to you like a tsunami when it's only a 5-foot wave. 📌Remember, when making changes in your life, you do not want to ignore the good and focus solely on the bad. You need to keep perspective so you can successfully handle the change.
Kevin and I moved into this house 3 months before he died. 🏡 We had so many dreams about what this house would be and so many visions about how we would fulfill those dreams together. Needless to say, we didn’t get much accomplished in those three months. 😔
Recently, I decided that I’m finally ready to start the “moving forward” portion of decorating my home. 😬 The bare walls mock me and remind me of the massive void in my life. 💔So, I’m determined to take back our home! I’m decorating my walls with signs of hope and grace and love. Slowly, but surely, it’s coming together. ❤️

Did you recently have a hip replacement? Here’s was too can do to improve your recovery: .
. • Get in a healthy exercise routine
Most hip replacement patients are able to walk within the same day or next day of surgery; most can resume normal routine activities within the first 3 to 6 weeks of their total hip replacement recovery. Once light activity becomes possible, it’s important to incorporate healthy exercise into your recovery program. Recommended activities include gradually increased walking and light household activities (sitting, standing, climbing stairs). Movement is essential to a healthy recovery. • Pay attention to diet and weight
Excess weight can put stress on your new hip prosthesis and increase wear and the risk of complication. Maintaining a healthy body weight before and after your surgery can help to improve your recovery process and the ultimate lifespan of your prosthesis. Additionally, make sure to maintain a balanced diet during your recovery. • Exercise to Promote Blood Flow
Certain exercises can help to promote blood flow and prevent clots. These include: - Regularly squeezing the thigh and calf. - Motion exercises for the legs that utilize full range of leg motions - Walking with or without the assistance of supportive devices (such as walker/cane) -Make household preparations
Your mobility and ability to accomplish normal, daily tasks following your surgery will be strongly reduced. Prior to your surgery, make practical modifications to your house so that the things you’ll need will be accessible without excess movement. Additionally, make plans with friends, family, or caretakers to ensure that someone will be available to help with tasks like cooking, bathing, and running errands.
