I’ve been sitting with an idea that has evolved into a decision: in 2019 I will be accepting two weddings per month. Two nicely paced, fun, beautiful weddings. Being a momma, a partner, a therapist in private practice, a flower farmer and a florist all at once are all parts of self that bring me great joy, and I want to cultivate each with intention. Flowers have grown bigger than I could have ever imagined.
I admit that I sometimes get caught up in wanting to grow bigger, do more, have an insatiable desire to create. But sometimes that translates to comparing myself and my work as a reflection of my worth. But, like Brenè Brown says so well: “When we can let go of what other people think and own our story, we gain access to our worthiness—the feeling that we are enough just as we are and that we are worthy of love and belonging. When we spend a lifetime trying to distance ourselves from the parts of our lives that don’t fit with who we think we’re supposed to be, we stand outside of our story and hustle for our worthiness by constantly performing, perfecting, pleasing, and proving. Our sense of worthiness—that critically important piece that gives us access to love and belonging—lives inside of our story.”
I’m gonna slow down for the story to unfold without pushing it. I look forward to kicking butt for the remainder of 2018 and all you stellar couples, followed by a slower paced flower next Summer. (And yes, if we’ve booked for 2019 already, I’ve got you baby cakes!) 💕
A meadow garden arbor, for Cally. 🌾 My favorite touch— long, weeping stems of asparagus gone to seed. Flowers always look best, in my opinion, when they’re veiled by grasses. There is that sense of discovery, of finding a flower in a meadow or field, and wanting nothing more than to pick and keep it. It’s the feeling I want to channel through even the most formal wedding pieces. 🌾 Cally’s wedding was beautiful, and she was so lovely to work with— I can’t wait to see and share more.
Check out this boho style wedding shoot on Karisaanna.com today. (Link in profile) I loved every step of the process, from picking the locations, styling the scenes (everything was pretty much sourced for free in my yard!), to working with some wonderful friends to create this magic. Looking forward to wedding season this year!
It rained on the way here and it rained while we were designing on the pergola and we left wet but Arielle took the chance of keeping it outdoors and she couldn’t have been more lucky and beautiful ✨☔️ sharing more details soon @virginiaashleyphotography
