There’s a lot people that don’t know the process behind creating a watercolor illustrated invitation. Some think that each invitation is hand painted. Hold the phone, if that was the case, I would STILL be trying to finish my first wedding suite from years ago. While others think I paint it all as one scene.
The truth is that it’s multiple images painted individually and then layered in through photoshop. Often times, the original color is nowhere near the final color. (SWIPE RIGHT👉🏼) I’ve been wanting to share this process in detail for those just plain old curious or anyone who wants to test their skills at doing similar things.
So I’m starting a blog series to walk you through the process of concept through print.

Ok y'all it's Tuesday, that means it's time for a new drawing! Yay! 🎉 So this idea for a painting has been boiling in my head for few months now, I just kept thinking about a painting of a painting with things spilling out of it. A painting break reality. But that idea just wasn't ready for the world just yet. So it sat in my mind for a while. But yesterday that idea came to reality, in this painting. This painting has a lot of charm to it, I think. I kept debating in my head "Should it be in landscape or portrait view?" "Should the grass be in patches or all over?" Well...I think it looks pretty good. I think this redeems myself from Friday's drawing.
This was made on 140lb watercolor paper, with crayola watercolor pencils, an HB for the main lines, and whatever random brushes I could find.
