The isolation of bed rest, of the way people fall away when you’re out of sight and out of mind, of being broken for the foreseeable future, was maddening to say the least. Then, I was told that a small team named Change for Chantelle would be walking in my honor at the Walk for Change. I was overwhelmed with the feeling of humanity in that moment, of appreciation and motivation and hope. It made me feel as though MY story had to be good for something. However, I want to make something very clear: more than half of the Change for Chantelle team members wore survivor beads in April 2017. It’s not just MY story. This team is made up of OUR stories. How tragic, how brave, how completely unnecessary... The first person I encountered after my escape watched me crawl into my hostel dorm, collapsing under the damage and promptly said “isn’t it sad that this is our normal” - I hadn’t said a word. I don’t know her. I probably never will know her. She waited in the dorm for the police, saying she had her story too, asking if she could get me some Swiss chocolate for the hospital. She kept me awake. She had a hand in saving my life. And, she was right. Sexual violence isn’t normal. Rape, molestation, abuse, harassment, murder - it isn’t fucking normal. We don’t need more stories. We don’t need to be brave and tragic and strong. We are human and we need to be shown humanity. Change for Chantelle doesn’t just walk because I survived. We walk because we all survived and the sexual violence we have experienced is unnecessary and wrong. We get loud, we support all survivors, we walk to end sexual violence. Please join us in our efforts on foot or through donation, because there shouldn’t have to be an organization like the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center, but thank God there is one 🎙*link in comments*
Hey peeps! Ramsay and I want to appeal to your 💓 and ask that you donate to our fundraiser for the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center. Even if you don't live in the Boston area, your support will mean a lot to me. Every itty bit helps :) In the era of #metoo we've been busier than ever. Requests for BARCC’s legal support increased by 110% compared to this same period in 2016, and counseling service requests have increased by 43% over last year. In December 2017 BARCC's 24/7 hotline received 34% more calls than the same month in 2016. These numbers are staggering, but you can make a difference by donating today! We are off to a slow start with two amazing people who got the ball rolling! Find the link in my bio or message me for details!

Wednesday March 14th,
JSA will be sponsoring Vote for Change tables during the Lunch Mods, where students can register to vote, receive contact information for politicians, and vote for the best ways to make our schools safer!
OKAY, EVERYONE, HERE IT IS!
10am on Wednesday the 14th, students across the nation will walk out of class to protest the lack of action on a national level when it comes to protecting the safety of school children.
Weather permitting, we will meet at the flagpole in the front of the school for a moment of silence, student speeches, and (again, weather and safety permitting) a walk across campus. It shouldn't take much longer than half an hour.
Everyone is welcome. You do not have to be for or against guns or gun control, all we ask is that you be respectful of people's opinions and the scores of innocent lives lost in school shootings. Please be appropriate.
*****The administration has made it clear that NO STUDENTS WILL BE PUNISHED FOR WALKING OUT as long as everyone goes back to their normal classes afterwards.*****
Any student wanting to honor the lives of those lost in the Parkland shooting may join in, including middle school students.
Join us in our #walkforchange next Wednesday!
7 lbs between these photos finally the scales are going the right way and quickly. Many people have this myth in their heads that all weight loss surgeries have you lose over 100 lbs in less than a year well I’m here to tell you that’s not the case for ALL surgeries if you’re eating junk food all the time you’re not gonna lose the weight no matter what surgery you’ve had if you’re good and eat healthier than before you’ll lose weight just remember small changes to you’re diet can make the world of difference small changes add up to big diet changes. #weightloss#weightlossmotivation#weightlosssurgery#weightlossjourney#weightlossinspiration#weightlossgoals#fitness#walkforchange
Dandarah has taken the first step and accepted CARE’s Walk in Her Shoes Challenge – will you join us as a walker, or supporter?
What is #WalkInHerShoes ?
CARE's Walk In Her Shoes challenges you to walk 10,000 steps, the distance many women and girls in developing countries walk every day to collect what they need to survive -- water, food, firewood. This leaves little time to get an education or earn an income.
