The 21 Ribside Outrage is like nothing else out there....ever. Truly a unique craft that caused many arguments between Dick Fisher and Bob Dougherty. The story goes, the Day Fisher Retired, Dougherty ordered the molds to be cut into pieces. He and the factory workers had a helluva time getting the parts out of the molds with those draft angles. That’s how the later smoothsided Outrages came to be. That was who Dougherty wanted to build them from the get go. I had the fortune to meet Bob Dougherty in person and he I told him my favorite Whaler was the 21 Ribside, he chuckled and said, I hate the god damn boat. I was surprised and he told me the story of why. .
This Converted Outrage III with an RPS is owned my Tom W Clark’s bother in-law. Yes, it’s powered with an 90 E-Tex and can run in the mid/upper 30’s. That’s how efficient the hull is. Tom took this photo on the backwaters of Maine. .
