Still day dreaming of this place. I recently saw a post from another photographer saying how the hike from the bottom up wasn’t worth it. I feel the complete opposite. I get that you spend 4 hours plus trudging up a river just to get to a couple hundred foot section of insanely beautiful canyon, but it’s the fact that it took all that effort that makes it so special. Every spot that I have ever been to that’s a short hike or a quick pull off on the side of the road never has the same impact on you as those that require the extra dedication it takes to get to a place like this. I know one thing for sure and that’s that I’ll definitely be going back here one day, hopefully doing it from the top down though 😉
I have a habit (that I’m working on breaking) of writing off things I see as “simple” as ‘stuff that doesn’t count’. You hear me call this a ‘warm up’ at the end, but the fact is, it’s a V2, it has a name, and it provides me benefits by doing it.
By writing it off as a ‘warm up send’, I discount the lessons and value I get from doing it. This would be like my coaching client discounting the immense value and impact of their Daily Movement Routine I give them. Is it easy? Yes. Does that mean it “doesn’t count”? No way, dude. It all counts. ALL OF IT. Reps count. Practice counts. Experience counts.
The whole spectrum, from easy —>difficult, has value.✊🏻✨ Thanks @joshnomadsen for reminding me. #fitforreallife
a yellow brick road?
how about a goddamned red dirt road?
rowdy and bursting with iron
that slices right through a land on fire.
i’ll raise my glass to you, Dorothy,
if you promise to keep this desert a secret from Oz.
these canyons have no curtain
—demand no trickery—
but you can be certain
these steep gorges are
canyons devouring rock
in their labyrinthine fabric
meanders more entrenched than Congress
because this gridlock is
older than the Wicked Witch of the West
—that bitch isn’t a witch,
i’ll have you know,
she’s an evil orange man with a puffed-up chest—
and we sure-as-hell ain’t in Kansas anymo’
‘cause this desert is more precious than Toto,
with enough heart to send the Tin Man
into cardiac arrest!
for fuck’s sake, the desert has
more fury than the Flying Monkeys
when the storms unleash their
siege on gullies and slickrock
and the Lion (the Coward!) must not balk
as the earth is scoured with nature’s power.
so Dorothy, dear girl,
as you traverse these sheer walls
and gaze at the desert’s great halls
grab your own waist and plant your sandy feet
feel the rain soak your weary hands
and you should now understand
you don’t need wizardry
to witness this land of liberty. 🌞
🌎🏜 Snapped this photo in Capitol Reef on an impromptu 5.easy free solo a few years ago. Wrote the poem this morning in a Red Bull-induced frenzy between class and work. 12 days left! #utahisrad
Be real. If you know me at all, you know I don’t beat around the bush. I don’t appreciate two-faced people and I hate excuses. I speak my mind and I’m not afraid to tell it like it is. But you know what? I’m real. I’m Jordan. What you see is what you get. I’ve learned to put people’s snide comments, their hate, their jokes behind me. I do what I know is right and I love everyone who keeps it real with me. Everywhere you look you will find something or someone who is fake, so above all else be real.

You always hear people say dress for the job you want, not the one you have. I'm out here trying to be the pineapple house from spongebob whenever they do a live action movie. Hollywood hit my line up 📱 Ya boi been ready ☄🍍
Fri-Yay! Who is as excited as Charlie for the weekend? We saw the usual wedding photographer traffic at Tibble Fork when we went out for our first bromance into nature together and managed to keep him from play attacking their lacy wedding dresses. I felt it was the perfect spot for us to tie the knot as Man and Man's best friend.
