Alright, I know it hasn’t been THAT long since I’ve done a #transformationtuesday post, but I came across this picture and we’re talking about this topic in my challenge group today, so I thought I’d share with you guys what I shared with my challengers!
“I started my healthy living journey towards the end of my grade 12 year. I put on A LOT of weight in high school due to stress, poor eating habits, poor sleeping habits... I basically had no idea how to treat my body right and was not willing to put any time in to figure out how to change that. Come May of my grade 12 year I gave myself my final kick in the butt and just said "Alanna, you're doing this". I started with quick little Youtube workouts but nothing was happening for me. I was feeling more unmotivated and negative with each day. I had no one to keep me accountable or encourage me. Enter in my lovely coach, @lnettlefit ! At the beginning of the school year she sent me a message asking if I was interested in Beachbody, but being the first year university student I was, I did not feel like spending any extra money. A couple months later I caved and signed up for a free trial... I was HOOKED! The challenge groups were amazing and fun and so encouraging each and every day. The pounds did NOT melt off, but I learned that consistency pays off, and over 70 pounds later I am so so SO glad I made the decision to invest in my health.”
So, there you have it! My journey in a quick little snapshot. Are you thinking about taking the same step? Do you want to take the time to invest in yourself?
Also a quick shoutout to my man for being a constant source of love and encouragement as I’ve pursued this. 💕
At that time, those of us who were present played in the Music Band (clarinet, tuba, percussion and saxophone) and studied at the university. Our weekends were more "healthy", for example, than those of now, ... healthier than the weekends of students now with so much technology and nonsense.
Life is a matter of time, and the time (who knows where the time goes? neither of us knows) unfolds another mysterious meaning therein. However one thing for sure, apart from what the believer says upon life, I believe the life has no proper meaning. This is the absurdism I hold onto, we human just try to associate every reasons why we are now here and smile and cry and live, in attempt to justify our existence. Nothing is wrong or right about asking the existentialism and found your own philosophical rejoinder of such a question or maybe you have enough faith to clear the way you seeing life in life itself. However, I strongly believe, like some of you will do, the most important part of all this is “You know what good is, do good”. Make it life better, at least you know, we are making history of our lives, don’t let it turn out to be an allegory of repentance or resentment at length. “If you can’t partake in the party, at least don’t try to ruin it” Well, before I post this picture, I have had fun. Really. But in truth, I keep failing. a bit messed up. The other day, I will always move on. As it has always been like that, you know they say it’s the wheel of life. But I say “it happens”. Now I will repeatedly put this on my deeper consciousness, I am happy. Truly I am. I wanna embrace the soul inside of me because he feels liberated in this moment of life. There is no rule, dogmatism, remain hampered such a freedom. I will be good without glorifying anybody anything or hope something in return. This is just the way it is. This is me. #cheveningscholar#cheveningfco#cheveningindonesia#studyinuk#lifequotes#lifemeaning#day#lancasteruni#universitylife#iamchevening
BOA NOITE 😴☕️
Tudo bem, gente?
Beijos 😘 ⠀
Dear future me, keep going! Remember when your secondary school teacher told you “I wouldn’t be surprised if you end up in prison”. As humans do, you have gone through many trials and many tribulations. Some you will take to the grave, some you will use to inspire others. You’ve never found it easy to forge friendships as you have felt your independence was a sign of strength. As you look back on this picture remember that this was one of the happiest days of your life, a time when you felt like you were fulfilling your God given purpose. It was here that you learnt the true value and impact that a friendship can have! It was here that people who love and respect you rallied around to help you achieve a goal! @stillsmallvoice.ltd Though you still find it hard to lean on people when you aren’t strong. Better days are on the horizon! University can be a lonely place but I will remind you that God sometimes allows you to go through trials in order to draw closer to Him. So persevere, persevere through the pain and the pressure that today’s society puts on a young black man and continue to prove them wrong. Most of all, do it so you be an encouragement to others who are going through their own struggles. Do it so you can bear witness to grace and mercy God has shown you. You aren’t where you want to be in life but you are on your way! Keep going 👍🏾! #motivate#motivation#keepgoing#strength#blackman#universitylife#lancasteruniversity#dreams#goals#future
Wow! Where do I begin? I’m a changed person thanks to The Arden, not only as a performer and artist, but also who I am. Due to the nature of the TaP course, I have learnt so much about myself and augmented my identity. I have a tool box of ideas, concepts, and techniques that I can take with me into my career and my life. I love everyone of my TaP family, and new friends I’ve met along the way. Here’s to the future and whatever the heck I’m doing next. Go TaP! 🎭♥️ #TaPLive#thisisthearden#universitylife#ucenmcr#dramaschool
I was talking to a small group of college seniors a few weeks ago and while most of them had parents who paid their college expenses, they were each responsible for some expenses and were scared to death about how they would manage their expenses after they graduated. .
They had SO many questions about credit, debt and spending. Only 3 out of the 12 had taken a personal finance course in college (and only because their college required it for graduation... which I was thrilled to hear)... but even those students didn't know basic money saving hacks. .
Yet the one common theme they kept saying was... .
"Why didn't anyone tell me these things sooner?" .
"I would have done things differently had I known." .
I've heard this before and that is why I worked with college students and their parents to create Dollars and Sense: The College Bound Teen's Guide to Financial Success. See link in bio for details.
