Or for those who've spent ages thinking about joining the gym or committing to some sort of a workout routine - (there's no better time than the present)...
Search deep inside you and remember why you started this journey in the first place or why you want to...
I could write down a number of reasons why my clients start their journeys...
But what's your reason?
**Got it, now write it down in big letter and stick it somewhere visible so you can look at it each morning to remind you 'Why' and keep you on track...
Also think of how it really makes you feel each day being stuck in this place...(write it down)

Firstly accept responsibility and please stop blaming everyone else...
Get rid of all distractions and only surround yourself with positivity...
Today is a fresh start when you're going to fully commit...
There's simply no more room for excuses find a way to make it happen...
Making excuses is simply you being lazy...
If you truly want it then go do something about it...
Think of today as a day to start improving 'You' and every bit of effort you'll put into your workout will bring you that bit closer to achieving your goal...
After all don't we all want to be the best version of ourself!!!
And hey if you truly love yourself then you won't accept nothing less than the best for you...

What drove me to start my journey and stick with it is everyday I felt so tired and always wondered why I never even wanted to get up to do dishes or laundry. I felt so lazy. I actually had no energy to do anything. I decided I wanted to stop feeling that way and I was looking at old photos of me when I was a little girl and saw how happy and healthy I was. I wanted to go back to that. So I became so motivated and woke up everyday at 6am to workout for an hour, stayed active throughout the day, drank tons of water, and stayed away from sugar. I was very strict on myself and only ate strictly healthy for the first 6 months, then I finally gave myself a cheat meal. I worked so hard. Since my journey I’ve realized I’ve inspired lots of people. My family members took my advice and so did my friends and people I know lost weight and did what I did. I changed their lives and they thanked me. It was amazing to know I’m helping change my own families lives too because some of them struggle with weight as well. My hope for the future is to inspire others because I know how YOU feel. I want to become a personal trainer one day, that’s my biggest goal. Body positivity means the world to me! A lot of times we look at transformation photos of ourselves and all we see is how bad we felt and how our physical body looked. But you know what? I am thankful for that woman on the left.

Although she often wanted to give up, she somehow found the strength to keep going. She found a community of women who didn’t judge her. Who instead, empowered her to change her life for the better. It is because of the woman on the left that I became who I am today.

Don’t ever discount who you used to be or who you are right this minute. Don’t look down on yourself because you are not where you want to be. Sometimes we have to fight a little harder to get through those storms….but just know this, We ALWAYS come out stronger on the other side💗

115kg/254lb 45 degree barbell back raises for sets of 5 at the end of my Heavy full body day. Morning bodyweight was 89.1kg/196.5lb.

Form is improved from the last training cycle. Arms are mostly straight, still a slight bend as the bar leaves the floor when I lock in my lats which I'll work to address. 
This block I started a new hybrid full body and upper lower split. 2 full body, 1 upper and 1 lower workout per week. I've done this  to increase frequency from upper lower without doing full body on every training day as sort of a halfway point.

It's been just over 2 weeks and there hasn't been enough time yet for me to formulate a proper opinion on this yet. I do feel like there are positives to this split however I'm already starting to see some potential negatives when it comes to joint and tendon health which I thought might occur based on prior experience.

Preliminary thoughts are that it's a good split to run for shorter periods of time but it's probably not sustainable long term if you 're at a decent level of strength while training with relatively high volumes and use  a lot of compound lifts like I do.

No. While squats are an extremely effective exercise for overall quad development, (McCaw et al 1998, Boyden et al 2000, Pick et al 2000), they fail to target the rectus femoris (RF) (Ema et al 2013) as RF aids in BOTH knee ext. & hip flex. Therefore, to solve this problem, research suggests the use of a leg extensions for fully isolating RF (Ema et al 2009). Lunges, step ups & presses are also great for adding more “isolated” quad (and glute) volume. Furthermore, in terms of hamstring development (an often-overlooked muscle to “complete” your lower body), research shows that hamstring activity during squats is almost HALF that of isolation exercises (Wright et al 1999) as they act to BOTH etx. the hip & flx. the knee. Thus, to maximise ham growth both an isolated hip ext. & knee flx. exercise have shown to be best, RDLs & leg curls in particular (McAllister et al 2014, Schoenfeld 2015).

Also, in regards to the picture, too much cardio can also negatively affect quad hypertrophy as, although I am a huge advocate of cardio (CV) for overall CV health, studies have shown that excessive CV can reduce muscle glycogen which can impair recovery & RT performance thus negatively impacting strength/hypertrophy (Nader 2006, Hickson 1980). Furthermore, studies have shown that the interference effect of doing excessive cardio is often body part-specific i.e. running shows greater decrements in lower body strength & hypertrophy (likely due to more eccentric contractions resulting in greater muscle damage) (Wilson et al 2011). This means that excessive amounts of running could potentially limit your ability to develop your quads.

Finally, it goes without saying that if big legs are your goal, don’t eat in a kcal deficit. Ideally create a SLIGHT kcal surplus to complement your efforts in the gym as this will create a more optimal, anabolic environment for muscle (Aragon et al 2017).

Chipotle vs Homemade Chicken Burrito Bowls. Everyone loves Chipotle right? It’s the perfect post workout meal and is incredibly flavorful. But the portions can be a bit large and the price a touch high. .

On the right is my attempt at a Chicken Burrito Bowl.😇 The nice thing about creating the bowls yourself is that you can customize it anyway you like. I have 2-3x the chicken in my homemade bowl for far less than it would cost to add extra at the restaurant. I also prefer more vegetables and less rice which is an easy sub to account for. The biggest advantage of making them at home is the price. I can make my own for just about 1/3 of the price at Chipotle. It really doesn’t take long to prepare them either. I’ve made this recipe enough times that I can be in and out in an hour 😎

I find little wrong with eating at Chipotle. It’s quality food that can certainly fit within the confines of your diet if you frame it correctly. You may have to get creative with how you construct your bowls but it is certainly doable. They tend to put a bit more rice and beans in proportion to meat which isn’t ideal but you can always ask for less rice and extra meat for an upcharge. .

It’s cliché, but the biggest transformation here is the one you can’t see. The difference in weight and appearance are mere side effects of the mental progress that has taken place. As simple as the fact that on the left I was a tan-oholic, because my natural skin colour wasn’t good enough. Now (on the right) I know that my skin colour and my appearance does not determine my worth, shown by the fact I no longer feel the need to apply fake tan or use sun beds. This may not seem a big deal to you, but it’s another marker of my progress that I am incredibly proud of.

Remember, hard work and consistency isn’t sexy and doesn’t sell, but it’s the difference between where I was on the left compared to the right. That applies to working on your body and your mind.

No PR or insane lift happening here. Just progress of my weak ass knee. No injury, it just decided to have its own little show in my squats and frankly it wasn't welcome. 
Resistance band and stretching has worked a treat. Of course I could lift a lot heavier, but with crap form what's the point! 
If you don't use resistance bands or stretching within your training give it a go. They really work wonders 💕

Consistency over a long period of time will get you anywhere in life.

I can't believe It's been almost 2 years since I took the picture on the left. However, I know that I didn't skip one workout on purpose and didn't miss any meal just because I knew that was all gonna be worth it in the end.

If you want something, you'll encounter a loooooot of setbacks in life. At the end of the journey will only get the ones that truly wanted that  certain thing. The ones that sacrificed everything for that dream. The ones that chose the lonely road and lost friends along the road. It's though, but it's so damn worth it.
