Good chat with former Liverpool and Real Madrid star Steve McManaman about Gareth Bale’s future at the Bernabeu, during his trip to Dubai. The Kop legend told me he has recently spoken to the Welshman and those close to him amid speculation he could leave the Whites in the summer. More content on @sport360 🎥💻.
Throwback to preparing for post-Test interviews with Alastair Cook and James Anderson in Barbados following the drawn Test series against the West Indies in 2015.
Important to spend time getting the right balance of questions, and tone, especially to cricketers - as it’s without doubt one of the most mentally draining sports.
A few of my analytical pieces from the week that was in our @sport360 print edition 🎾🏏. Still great value in print products but all of our content goes out first on digital, mobile and social platforms 👍 💻📱📰.
With the time difference here in Dubai being ahead of Europe, we can often be up against the deadline. But, when the news is about Roger, it’s easy to hold off sending the pages to print! It’s genuinely been a privilege to report on my hero over the years. What an inspiration 👑1️⃣
Had it confirmed my team Everton are arriving in the 🇦🇪 this week for some training in the sun ☀️ so a little #MondayMotivation throwback to one of the last times I played football before giving it up to focus on running (charity game at Goodison Park back in 2013 where I got on the scoresheet 😆⚽️).
It can be easy to stick the boot in when things aren’t going well but Arsenal and Arsene Wenger just face the same old problems season after season. Here’s my take on what’s wrong at the Gunners in our Monday Debate today 📝.
The first week of a new era at @sport360 which sees a complete integration of our digital and print products - and more in-depth analysis from our writers on a daily basis across a smattering of different sports 👍
Would have done anything to be out there running today (!) but at the same time I love reporting on the elite athletes and thousands of other runners who are completing their marathon dreams! Here’s a few clips from the course in Dubai - the professionals are just so fast it’s unreal 🔥💪
Ross Barkley set to re-start his career as a Chelsea player this weekend and Luke Shaw hailed by Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho - the man who has previously criticised him - after impressive displays of late. It feels like new beginnings for both players and it’ll be interesting to see if they can force their way into England’s World Cup plans this summer 🏴.
Can’t believe it’s getting on for four years since they were both seen as big future international stars. It goes to show that the spotlight, expectation and attention isn’t easy for a young player to shoulder, despite the riches and fame. These two are a case in point 🤔.
Throwback: Spoke to most of the Three Lions squad at their Grove Hotel base before they departed for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil 📽🎤. I remember an awkward interview with captain Steven Gerrard well!
#ThrowbackThursday : Catching a few questions with David Beckham on the red carpet at Leicester Square in London. Those were the days - London was the best place to be a journalist, so much variety and great memories from living and working in the best city in the world. Look forward to being back one day soon 👍📽🎤📱📝
Wishing #AndyMurray a full recovery from his long-term hip injury. It was so sad to read his Instagram post earlier - he’s one of the best professionals out there and what he’s achieved has been incredible. A role model on and off the court who has inspired millions with his #nevergiveup mentality and dedication to his profession. 🎾👏
Congrats to all of the winners at our annual @sport360 #FITAwards17 night, with main sponsor @activelife_daman and partner @repsuae 📰. Here’s my write-up from another great evening 💪 and you can read more online.
#ThursdayThrowback to my Showbiz reporting (younger) days when I was cutting my journalistic teeth in London. It was a great honour to interview many iconic people and 🇬🇧 institutions. Still count speaking to Sir David Attenborough and interviewing the man who’s interviewed everyone, Sir Michael Parkinson, as two of my most memorable career experiences.
Watching the 2005 #Ashes Series inspired me to become a Cricket Reporter and it’s been surreal at times to interview 🎥 and work with some of the legends from that memorable summer and beyond. I’m backing England 🏴 to win 2-1 Down Under 🇦🇺 this time around! See the @sport360 team’s predictions in today’s paper and my video preview on Facebook.
#FlashbackFriday : Special memories I’ll cherish for a lifetime travelling and touring as a lone Video Journalist with the England Cricket team to Australia, New Zealand and the West Indies, as well as at home 🏴. I was fortunate to work with great people and have some incredible experiences. I wish the boys the best of luck in the forthcoming Ashes series. Bring home the Urn!
A video 🎥 snippet from my @sport360 interview with Anthony Joshua - the heavyweight boxing 🥊 king giving his verdict on a potential fight with Deontay Wilder next year. You’ll find the full interview at Sport360.com.
Just another day in the life of #MSDhoni - a few 🎥 shots from Saturday night as the Indian #cricket star launched his new Academy venture in Dubai. Fan mayhem!
