This was taken at the Abbey of New Clairvoux in Vina, CA. The monastery was rebuilt by using stones from an ancient Spanish monastery. William Randolph Hearst, the famed Newspaper publisher, started building the monastery but eventually sold it to San Francisco. When you visit the property, you’ll find a very simple, tranquil landscape. The monastery is very beautiful yet humble and it blends in well with its surroundings. Fun facts: Most monasteries had a center open area called a cloister; it’s believed that the first monastery ever built was built in the 4th century in Egypt.
What a sweet little surprise today 🐳💕 During our time on the East Coast last month, we were so bummed that our Red Sox game got rained out. We had purchased tickets months in advance and there was no way of getting our money back. We decided to make the best out of it - took a fun tour of the stadium and then grabbed dinner on our way back to Maine in beautiful Portsmouth, NH. We met a wonderful waitress and decided to gift her our tickets for the rescheduled game in May. She was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to take her son. It made us feel better and we just went on with our trip, never expecting anything in return. Well, turns out our address was on the tickets and we received a cute package from her today - it made my day! #imnotcryingyourecrying#alwayspayitforward#travelmemories
