#Onewayticket to #Europe : When your students invite you to lunch there is only one answer: YES
One of my travel mottos is do what you are told. When I travel to a new city I often ask a local person to tell me where to go and then they usually ask me: what kind of foods do you like? I resist the urge to tell them and say I would rather not be constrained by my desires or my my own pallet. So I don't give them any hints as to the foods that I like so they can give me an unbiased recommendation.
I often have my reservations but then I think David do what you're told and usually these experiences take me into the heart of the culture in a more intimate way.
I think as humans we're wired to resist. And definitely As Americans we are wired to second-guess others. I often wish I was more Curious and that my curiosity itself would lead me to off the beaten path Adventures. But I found, for me, I can get outside of my comfort zone and experience more of the world by asking questions, trusting the person in front of me, and doing what I'm told.
This was such an awesome lil stop on our drive back from San Antonio to Austin 👍🏻 the town of Gruene (pronounced Green) had so many cute little shops and eateries, wine tasting rooms and coffeehouses 🐮 all surrounding local historical stop and buildings #smalltown
HAPPY EARTH DAY! 🌎 “The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life...Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand...To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, & to preserve & cherish the pale blue dot (earth), the only home we've ever known.” - Carl Sagan. From the Amazon rainforest to monkeys in Malaysia & endless waterfalls in New Zealand, I continue to be amazed by the natural world. I’ll spend my whole life exploring it & never reach every corner. I’m forever in debt to you, Earth. #GetOutside 🌱
