The postures of yoga. This 8 limbed path has changed my life. I love the Asana but realize that I need more physically to keep my body balanced and happy. I’ve found (for myself) strength training, kickboxing and mobility work help me to be more present in my body and to move through Asana with more ease. I came to Yoga through the philosophy and meditation. I had barely touched on Asana when I started my yoga teacher training. I’d read books and looked at pictures but it wasn’t until training that I dove in with my body. I found very quickly that I had major areas of weakness and injuries that I had long forgotten about that needed compassion, healing and acceptance. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
This practice is powerful and I am grateful I found it but (to quote DJ Drez) “Yoga is for EveryBody but every body may not be for Yoga.” My medicine may be your poison. It’s important to look inside and listen to your body and spirit to find your own medicine and then USE it. 💜
Yesterday morning I went in to do legs and core and I felt incredibly uninspired. I was yawning all through my first four sets on leg press and no song seemed to get my mind right. I thought about heading to the shower early.
What I’ve found is that if you just force yourself to take that next baby step, there’s always a surprise ahead. I just told myself I’m going to do 12 sets and make a decision after that. About 8 sets in my mindset and energy levels changed from doubtful and sleepy to pumped and inspired. •
I think knowing what you value is the most important part. I value my health goals more than I value taking a nap.
Pushing yourself physically only helps build those “calluses of the brain” meaning you will be mentally prepared for adversity in the future. •
Hope you push yourself to be great everyday 😄💪🏻
