This room was a freshen up of a den that was many years old. The client wanted an update that wouldn’t betray the era in which we decorated it. So I selected a solid color curtain that would be easy to live with and an expressive print in masculine colors all set atop a traditional Oushak rug. The look is timeless.⠀⠀⠀

One of my favorites is this Oonjal (Swing) Vinayagar paired with Annapatchi (Hamsa) Vilakku and yellow Chrysanthemum flowers. This is the sunshine corner of my living room. .
I am always fascinated with Annapatchi motifs be it brass decor , Kanchipuram sarees, Tanjore paintings, or even the latest Kalamkari. It's known to be the queen of motifs. Annapatchi or the divine swan is a mythical bird that is often mistaken as peacock. Legend says this mythical white bird flew down to earth from heaven. Its known for its purity. They are endowed with a quality to separate milk from water or food from mud. .
Annapatchi or Annam as its commonly called is perceived as the spirit of morality and is rated as the cultural icon of Tamil Nadu. Annapatchi has found its place in South Indian brass lamps. These lamps are house hold items in every family and temples, they are also used as a holy sign to mark the start of any occasion or event. .

There are 3 things we love about this: 1. CUBBIES!!! I am a cubby enthusiast when it comes to playrooms. Playrooms have crap, and cubbies are perfect for stuffing crap into. Use them. 2. A comfy sitting chair. I always include somewhere for kids to be comfortable with a book or drawing pad, or just to curl up. 3. Creativity surface. For pity's sake give the kid a table would ya? They'll get less playdough on the floor if they have a surface to work on. Just sayin.⠀
