Why did it take me till my thirties to be exposed to strawberry rhubarb pie? Also, slab pie is like a more sophisticated gigantic pop tart and I think we can all get on board with that. Even though this photo is almost a year old, it (with a bunch of other food photos from my portfolio) landed me a new amazing job! It was my second time at #壹零貳小館 , and spending a few days with its founders, eating our way around Guangzhou and Foshan. This might be the first time I've experienced "seasonality" so extensively on Cantonese food. Lychees stuffed with a tiny smear of pork and fish, winter melon soup with night Jasmine served in a lotus leaf, sweet and sour pork made with pineapples, summer bamboo shoot cooked "simply" in a ham reduction, chicken raised in a sunflower garden and fed only on sunflower seeds, a dessert of almond "tofu" in chilled sweetened tea - the majority of these ingredients are local. I didn't think summer in Guangdong could taste so good; feeling like such a Cantonese food noob - but, er, I'm Cantonese!!! #e_tingguangdong#e_tingfoshan
Incase you didn’t see my story on Monday morning here’s a recap. I love this seasoning!! Found only @traderjoes the everything but the bagel seasoning is a hit at my house. I tend to sprinkle some on my eggs, grilled chicken I even ended up throwing some on a pork loin not to long ago. I’ve also read you can put it on buttered popcorn, mac and cheese, pasta, even backed potatoes. The options are endless. . .
Can’t wait for the weekend! At least it’s a long weekend for me since my job will be closed on Memorial Day. Does anyone have any special plans ?

Kiwano melon is part of the melon as well as of the cucumber family.
The inside of the fruit is interesting. (Swip to next pic). You’ll notice that it’s full of seeds, and these seeds are edible. The texture around the seeds is like a green jelly.

I also found that the taste in general is not very sharp or sweet, which is good so it won’t be too much of a shock when you have it for the first time. .
HOW TO CUT AND EAT?🔪
You can “drink” a kiwano melon by simply cutting it in half and squeeze the contents of one half into your mout .
The more common way to eat this fruit is to cut it in half and then scoop out bits and pieces with a spoon!

15 adet küçük-orta boy patlıcan, Sıvı yağ (patlıcanları kızartmak için)
İç Harcı İçin;
1/2 çay bardağı sıvı yağ, 2 adet iri boy soğan, 250 gram kıyma, 1 tepeleme yemek kaşığı domates salçası, 1 adet büyük boy domates (kabuksuz küp küp doğranmış), 1 tatlı kaşığı tuz, 1 çay kaşığı karabiber, 1/4 demet maydanoz (ince kıyılmış)
1, 5 su bardağı su, 1 yemek kaşığı domates salçası
Domates, Yeşil biber
Patlıcanları yıkayıp, temizleyin. Baş kısımlarının gövdesine uzanan sivri uçlarını ve saplarını kesin ve kabuklarını alacalı olarak soyun. Arzuya bağlı acısının çıkması için 15-20 dakika tuzlu suda bekletebilirsiniz. Suda bekletirseniz, ardından kızartacağımız için patlıcanları kurulamalısınız.
Patlıcanları renk alana kadar sıvı yağda (çok derin yağ olmasına gerek yok) çevirerek kızartın ve pişireceğiniz fırın tepsinize dizerek beklemeye alın.
İç harcımız için, yemeklik doğradığımız soğanları sıvı yağ ile bir tavaya alın ve hafifçe pembeleştirdikten sonra kıymayı da ekleyin. Kıyma ile beraber, orta ateşte güzelce kavurduktan sonra, domatesler ile salça ilavesini yapın ve bu şekilde de bir kaç dakika pişirmeye devam edin.
Son aşamada iç harcımıza; tuzunu, karabiberini ve maydanozunu da ekleyerek karıştırın ve ılınması için bir kenara alın.
Harç ılındıktan sonra, patlıcanları ortalarından boyu boyunca, bir bıçağın ucuyla taban kısmına kadar inmeden kesin ve hafifçe arasını açtırın.
Patlıcanların içlerini, bir kaşık yardımıyla kıymalı harç ile doldurun.
Yemeğimizin sosu için, su ile salçayı ezerek, iyice karıştırın ve patlıcanların aralarından tepsiye dökün.
Karnıyarıklarımızın üzerini istediğiniz şekilde ve ölçüde, yeşil biber ve domates dilimleri dizerek süsleyin ve 180 derece sıcaklıkta üzeri kızarana kadar pişirin.

It has been A WHILE since I’ve whipped up a smoothie, so this beautiful morning seemed like the perfect time. Sun is shining, I sat outside and had my morning matcha for a bit after an awesome HIIT workout to start the day, and now breakfast is SPOT ON. ✔️Steamed and frozen zucchini, frozen blueberries, banana, 1/2 scoop @majusuperfoods mushroom adaptogen blend, 2 tbsps. @manitobaharvest hemp hearts, 2 tbsp. @navitasorganics chia seeds, 1 tbsp. truly raw @betteralmondbutter, 1/2 cup @califiafarms almond milk, and one handful of ice, all blended up in my @vitamix. Topped off with @larkellenfarm grain-free granola bites and fresh blueberries. ☀️ Taking a few moments to sit and soak up the sunshine and just be present this morning felt SO good, it really is so necessary to have a few of those slower morning moments. Be sure to take some time to sit with yourself this morning, and remind yourself that you are awesome and you’ve got this. 😎

happy thursday, my friends! 🤸🏻♀️ I started off this sunny + gorgeous day with an awesome 6 mile run 🏃🏻♀️ and then came home to make these loaded savory muffins 💕
I always like to prep soft-boiled eggs in advance (I boiled these ones yesterday) so that when I want them, I can have them right away! about twice a week, I like to wash + prep a ton of veggies, sweet potatoes + eggs to have ready to assemble to my meals. that’s just how I like to go about meal prepping, but you’ve gotta find out what works for you and your lifestyle 🤗
