Between the 7th and the 11th Grade having Alopecia Areata made me a huge target for bullying. I hated going to school, I would be told that I had cancer and even had my hairpiece putted off multiple times. I was not in a happy mind set.
On May 1, 2008 (Ten years ago today) I shared my story of having Alopecia Areata on The Tyra Banks Show. I knew by sharing my story, it could help someone else also dealing with the same diagnosis. I know from my own personal experiences, Alopecia Areata can be difficult to handle. It makes me so happy, when I meet other people with alopecia tell me seeing my story helped them with their own Alopecia.
If you are dealing with Alopecia Areata, please know you are not alone. Find a local support group for Alopecia Areata or a local telephone contact through the National Alopecia Areata Foundation- NAAF.org ❤
