“To all the black girls making moves behind the scenes. THIS. IS. FOR. YOU. @blackwomenos
Black Women Off Screen was created due to the lack of recognition women in the creative industries typically receive; women who are innovators in their roles, acting as great influences behind the scenes shaping what is presented on screen. An annual awards ceremony will be organised to highlight these women 🔌
The film and television industry offers lucrative opportunities, especially behind the scenes .
Over the next few days , we will introduce you to some behind the scenes careers on a film set as well as in the film industry .

With women making up less than seven percent of cinematographers in the UK, female DOP collective @illuminatrix_dops casts a much-welcomed spotlight on a vastly underrepresented group. Set up by London-based cinematographers Vanessa Whyte (@noodlle) and Catherine Goldschmidt, (@cgdop) the initiative started out as meet-ups for female talent in the TV and film industry. It soon evolved into a cinematographer-only platform, and now showcases the work of around 30 women. We met up with Vanessa Whyte, who runs Illuminatrix alongside Catherine and the rest of the collective, to find out how the idea came about, her experience of working in a male-dominated environment, and why they are extending the network for the next wave of talent, with @illuminatrix_rising_dops.⠀

O S C A R. S U N D A Y. So many people dream of winning an Oscar. They dream of standing on that stage, being recognized by their peers, and fulfilling a dream they had since they were a kid. If you’re one of those people, I want to challenge you and ask you, do you REALLY want it? Because having that level of success requires you to live your life like a High Achiever — that means taking risks, living outside your comfort zone every day, and being dedicated in a way that most people aren’t willing to do. So if you TRULY want to be on that stage one day, make 2018 the year that you FULLY COMMIT to that dream. Stop playing small. Stop taking actions that are comfortable. Be BOLD. Claim it. P.S. I may have a client at the Oscars tonight...watch my insta stories and stay tuned.
Could I have a better day? NOT! 😀
