Part of what can make engaging in self-care challenging is societal norms and personal beliefs about success and hard work. I see so many encouragements about dreaming big and having the life you want…
I started wondering, what if we spent more time thinking about how we would BE in that dream world? What thoughts would you have about yourself? What feelings would you have? Would you be kinder to yourself💛?
We tend to spend so much time thinking about what we want our lives to look like that we forget about what we want are inner world to FEEL like.
There’s nothing wrong with these encouragements if you find them motivating, but try to also dream of and work hard towards more self-compassion, more self-regulation, and more grounded decision making🙌🏼.
I do believe anything is possible but for that to be true, we need to pay attention to our hearts and minds. So dream big, outwardly and also small, inwardly. Focus on yourself everyday and make your inner space as dream-like as it can be☺️.
We are still homeschooling and slowly getting back to our more structured hands on lessons, we have been super busy and doing a lot of Isabelle’s work book curriculum which means not a whole lot with AJ. Our schedule is slowing down a little though so I am hoping to get back in to our routine soon. I have found since I haven’t been as consistent with AJ his attention span has gotten really short again. Here are some of our favorite moments from the last week in Math and Reading♥️
This is what a full classroom loaded into a truck looks like. Almost 100% teacher funded. It didn't have to be and I'm not complaining. I chose the profession and now I'm making the choice to leave. And I will treat my kids' future teachers like gold. Unless, of course, they suck. 😂 Happy end of the year, y'all!

I had a total 🤦♀️ moment today. After 3 years of just following the lesson plans that came with our "Push, Pull, Go" kits, today I ditched the cards that show the kids how to make a ramp and had them collaborate to make their own. They did great and had so much fun! #whydidntithinkofthatbefore
Guilford County, North Carolina friends: it is time. Time to let our voices be heard. The schools in our county need funding and the county commissioners need some encouragement. Join me on June 7th at 5:00pm at the county commissioners meeting to encourage the FULL funding of the 2018-19 school budget. #countycomissionermeeting#guilfordcountync#wemakeithappen#red4ed#teachers
Today’s science lesson started with a walk to our school garden beds. We witnessed two deer grazing by classrooms before we picked radishes, carrots & lettuce. Students returned to class and the. Drew some amazing scientific drawings. This is how active learning engages our little ones!💕😎
This is the game that I mentioned earlier this morning in my video. We are working on prepping summer professional development. And I happen to be doing a lot of SEL (social emotional learning) themed sessions and workshops this summer. I happed on this game Totem on Amazon. Basically, you have animal cards with traits and quality cards with traits. You start with the animal cards and the dealer deals 7 to each person (sans him/herself) and each person picks the animal card that they think best describes/depicts the dealer and they put that card face down. The dealer picks up and shuffles the 4 or 5 face down cards (depending on how many players are in the group) and ranks them based on order of preference. Then the dealer turns each over and talks about how they think they do or do not possess these traits. Then the players explain their choices. And then the player's choose the dealer's dominant trait and the rest of the animal cards go back in the deck. Then you rinse and repeat for the next person (the dealer) until everyone has a dominant trait. Then you do it all over for the quality cards. Basically you are building a totem constructed of their best traits. Can't wait to use this next week with our staff professional development. Stay tuned! #professionaldevelopment#teachers#teachersofinstagram#texasteacher#texasteachers#texasteachertribe#edtech#boardgames#socialemotionallearning#socialemotional#cardgame#cardgames#totem#totempole#teachersofig#teachertraining#teachermom#teachersofinsta#teacherblogger#teacherbloggers#analog#emotionalintelligence
One of my favorite things to do is to revisit my idea boards...I have journals upon journals that I love to draw in and write quotes that are personal and relevant to what is going on in my life at that moment...I am often inspired by the most random things...like a photo on a wall at our local breakfast spot or a sweet flower at the grocery store. So I thought it would be fun to share some of my inspirations with you! This little piggy was created and added to my Three Little Pigs Clipart set...😉 I personally love the pencil sketches most but love to see them come to life! ♥️ #creating4theclassroom#createdbyme#journaling#clipartforteachers
Meet Ms. Necessity, a very special member of our support team and May’s teacher of the month! 🍎 Ms. Necessity’s favorite part about teaching are the varied experiences that she has with each child every single day!
🎨 Her favorite in depth study was our artist study! “The children were so engaged and we had so much fun learning about different art styles.” 📖 What does Ms. Necessity learn from her students? She describes how she becomes a better human being everyday just by being around them. They show her amazing examples of kindness, creativity and open-mindededness. 🖌 Ms. Necessity’s favorite school subject is art. She loves art because her students are able to express themselves - which to her, "is very important in a learning environment.” 💖 Something that Ms. Necessity has learned from teaching at 9th Bridge School is that as important as it is to be a leader, it is also so crucial to be a team player!
Kindergarteners illustrated and authored their very own books and wanted to share them with our Preschool class! 📚 Our preschoolers love when people come and share their creations with them, especially if they are from our school. 🎨
