Last week alone, I saw three examples of teachers using specific stories of something another teacher had said or done that wasn’t “worthy.” Here’s the thing. I have a lot to say about this. It will be a blog. But in the meantime, please hear me. I have done extensive training. I have learned a lot. I have had trainers that ridiculed and shamed. I’ve had trainers that were kind and compassionate. I learn best from the latter.
The journey of learning and teaching yoga, which is what I teach, never ends. I firmly believe when I stop learning, I should stop teaching. But we are all learning different things. At different times. We are all on our own path. Not one of us is showing up to a class and trying to hurt someone. Old cuing? Yup, it happens. Old way of teaching a pose? Yup, it happens.
Introducing new, more current information into classes? Yup, it happens.
This hurts my heart. I am a yoga teacher. I do the best I can each day for the students that show up. Last week, for 420, I posted a video abut shoulder movement. It wasn’t an anatomy or biomechanics lesson. I showed some movement for your shoulder joint. After I posted it, I hoped I wouldn’t become one of the examples of what not to do.
Listen, We don’t know it all. We will never know it all. Please stop correcting, fixing, complicating, shaming, SHARING, and calling teachers out by humiliating them. It’s really not okay. And just because their name isn’t posted, doesn’t mean they don’t get the message.

I woke up in Oklahoma at 4am this morning to go to the airport in order to head to LA and get back to #CommunityPolicing ... 🙏 I was tired, frustrated, and struggled to find motivation... Those of you who know me know this is rare. 🤔 I sat, stuffed into my seat on the small plane in the sky while I dreaded landing knowing the amount of work I have to catch up on both for @longbeachpd.ca and @teamwysm. Well, my plane just landed in LA and I see this pop up... All I can say is my motivation is BACK! 🙌 Thank you @jpdk9_cop for always pushing me to be better and thank you @tnorman23 for always understanding that I am the better looking of the #TwoBaldCops 👮♂️👮♂️ LOL #ItMatters#MondayMotivation#2PercentBetterToday#Empowerment#DoWork#Inspire#Teach#Learn
There’s nothing like some good self love & appreciation. It’s easy to get caught up wanting or expecting others to appreciate you. First you must learn how to become your first source of appreciation. Feed yourself first. 🐝 a reflection|Happy Manifesting Monday!
I’m so in love with this new Fruit and Veggie Soak I got on my Essential Rewards order last month!
When I washed my grapes before this, I couldn’t stand the white residue that was still left behind even after washing them! This literally resulted in me not even wanting to eat them, because #whoknows what the heck that stuff is 🤷🏻♀️but it’s probably not good for you!
Now my grapes are sparkling clean & they last longer 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Another Win/Win for Young Living ❤️
Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy occurs when new blood vessels grow on the retina. These blood vessels are very weak and bleed easily! If left untreated most patients will loose vision or go completely BLIND!! 😯😟 treatment involves laser and injections into the eye!! 💉 the best thing someone can do to prevent this is to control their diabetes! Share with someone you know has diabetes and help them stay the right path! @assoc.diabetes
Watching this in the morning and getting all emotional because I remember how free I felt when I started breakin’ at a young age. This is exactly what it’s about - giving it all back. @webreak #teach#freestyle#recital -

@katie_neece’s work is awe-inspiring. She uses drawing, painting, and design to create colorful pieces unlike anything you've ever seen. Inspired by the cultural and aesthetic affects of digital technologies as it shapes our worldview, Katie's work explores how information is received & translated digitally, and how that in turn affects the way that we experience the world. She loves to experiment with shapes, imagination, 3 dimensional forms, and tools like photoshop to inform her process and see what fits into her art's dialogue. ⠀
We are also proud to say that Katie was in SBMA's 2015 Undergraduate Residency Program, where she states that "The South Bend Museum of Art was where I found my foundation in gaining the confidence to teach art. At SBMA, I taught drawing and painting, as well as figure drawing, and it taught me that I can help other people and really be a part of the arts." This summer, Katie will be teaching the Snite Apprenticeship Program for high school students. She is also looking forward to teaching Drawing 1 at Notre Dame. Thanks, Katie! We are so proud to have been a part of your journey as an artist, and can't wait to see where you go from here! ⠀
