When life gets blurry, adjust your focus 💎 || 📷: @alex_takes_photos
Hey guys! I hope everyone had a good Sunday! 🌿Sorry I’ve been MIA for a little bit. I’ve been crazy busy lately finishing school, starting work, and currently working on a side project I’m excited to share with you guys! 🌟
Today, as I ordered some Mediterranean food at a restaurant before I headed back to the airport, the cashier was a girl who looked maybe a couple years younger than me. We began talking and the fact that I’m a photographer naturally came out in our conversation. She immediately lit up and said “oh that’s awesome! I’m actually kind of an amateur photographer.” And she then asked me how I ended up doing this and how I get clients all over the place, how long I have been doing this and all those kinds of things. It was such a nice little reminder that dang- I get to take pictures for a living and make incredible relationships with amazing people. The girl and I talked about how I started out in a dental office, going to school for nursingin the beginning of my career search. She explained she was thinking about nursing too because it was a “safe” option in terms of job security, but her heart was with photography. I could totally relate, that was the exact reason I had been going to school for nursing. Our conversation kind of got cut short as her boss came out and handed her the bag of food to give to me. But there's something else I wanted to say to her, and so I'll say it here: Hey you. Girl at the register at the Mediterranean restaurant- safe is good. There’s nothing wrong with being safe. But I am so glad that I chose this route. That I bet on myself and my ability to learn entrepreneurship, business mindedness, dedication, work ethic, and of course the art of photography. Do what you feel a fire in your belly about. Do what you were created for. If that’s nursing, great- do it and give 150% and the world with benefit so much from gaining another incredible nurse. But if that’s just a safe option, the world will miss out on what you were here to offer it. The world needs more women and men who don’t just show up to work, but women and men who have a burning passion behind why they show up. I hope you find what that is, and get after it. I’m rooting for you. ❤️
Outside of faith, my family is the most important thing in my life. We’ve been through it all together. Through all of our successes and all of our failures, never once has our family skipped a beat. To watch the last of our brothers graduate today was something truly special. It was a tribute to all the hard work and dedication our parents have showed through the years. Without them none of us boys would be anything. They are our rocks. These are the strongest people I know. These are the people I know I can turn to for anything and everything. These are my best friends. Nothing will ever change that.
