Want to join me in supporting a good cause? Wanna be part of #TeamDeonte !
I'm raising money for Talk About Curing Autism and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support. I've included information about Talk About Curing Autism below.
Talk About Curing Autism (TACA) is a national organization dedicated to providing information, resources, and support to families affected by autism. For families who have just received the autism diagnosis, TACA aims to speed up the cycle time from the autism diagnosis to effective treatments. TACA helps to strengthen the autism community by connecting families and the professionals who can help them, allowing them to share stories and information to help people with autism be the best they can be.
Day 8 of #TACAAutismActionMonth : Give a sincere compliment to an Autism parent. (Hint: "I don't know how you do it" is not a compliment. They don't know how they do it either; they don't have a choice.) When your child has autism, you have a whole new world to negotiate. IEP's, therapies, medical treatments, insurance issues, and financial planning. Who will be your child's friends? What will happen to them when you die? And all the while, you second-guess yourself, wondering if every decision you are making is the wrong one for your kid.
TACA provides a "Journey Guide" - a book by autism parents for autism parents - when a family joins TACA. They provide educational events for parents, with expert speakers to help parents maximize their child's potential. They provide Coffee Talks and Mentors to give support through networking. They also provide FRIENDS - something that is sorely lacking for many Autism families.
Please consider joining #TeamDeonte so that we can continue to help other families like ours. Thank you!! (And don't forget to give that compliment! 😊) http://2018ff.tacanow.org/TeamDeonte ❤
Last week, IBC was honored to present a Sensory-Friendly production of The Nutcracker at Neumann University. We would like to send a big thank you to Jaelyn Fellona and Honey Rinicella for making this possible. We would also like to thank the wonderful families at TACA and any of the other groups that attended the performance! We hope to see you again next year!!
We found a FB status posted by an autism mom that we know you'll love. Beau is 17 years old and check out what's happening with him now. The take-home message?? Never stop trying! Beau can now communicate novel thoughts through the Rapid Prompt Method and show what he has been silently learning all these years. Beau's mom will take a look at comments and questions so feel free to leave a comment of support or a question. #ASD#AutismToughFamilies#nevergiveup#journey#talkingaboutcuringautism#TACA#autism
Most kids are out of school, and we are all making our summer plans! For our kids with ASD, summer is a great time to change the diet, learn to ride a bike, tackle potty training, focus on reading, or just try something new! At TACA Coffee Talks we talk about all of these things and MORE, sharing all kinds of resources and information with each other!
Join us for a TACA Coffee Talk or two this summer! They are all scheduled for Sundays! So please mark your calendar and join us!
And please share! #talkingaboutcuringautism#TACA#ASD#AutismToughFamilies#autism#coffee#coffeetalk#specialneeds#Journey
