We stayed up WAY too late watching Solo so I missed the morning swim session 😢. But I had an a-mazing lane mate in the afternoon to push me so I think it was a win after all 😉. How did you kick off your weekend?
You ever have that itch or desire to do more? Just one mile more? Just a couple hundred more metres in the pool?
It’s been a long 6 months off. Trying to find my way through this game called life. But it feels so good to be back out there. Pride is one of the hardest things to overcome as an athlete. But something even more impressive is overcoming that pride and knowing your limits. Knowing you have steps to take to be back to where you were before and continuing on even further.
Most important thing to remember, is all it takes is that first step.
However, now it’s time to plop on the couch and pour a few drams for this 4 day holiday weekend
I had felt overwhelmed and stressed, with everything going on in life, then something dawned on me today, perhaps it was my coach saying something along the lines of “you’ve got a lot of amazing things ahead of you” made me stop, pull myself out of my head funk and say, hey, everything that’s stressing me is all pretty amazing! They are all wonderful things, they aren’t stressors from something bad, and that’s a pretty damn big realization. My life, my body, my mind, have all transformed so much within the past few years, this past year in particularly! I should be excited about the things that are stressing me! And when realizing that, I felt better. I headed out for a quick run before work and I felt so good, I felt strong, I thought, how funny is it that just a couple months ago running was knocking me down, and now I feel so powerful, and I am doing something I thought I’d never be able to do, run faster 😮. I spoke of having fierce faith when in Oceanside, and I’m reminding myself again today, to have fierce faith that I can handle and tackle all these amazing things coming my way. I was offered and accepted the internship at the Olympic training center, and feel honored to be able to be part of one of the worlds top athletic industries. I somehow managed to qualify for Worlds in South Africa, and being able to go race in a qualifying race is something I set as a goal just this year. And wow, I can go do it if I choose to!! Classes start again on Monday and I found out today I didn’t do as well as I thought I would my first semester, at first I almost broke down crying. Then I told myself, it’s okay, it was a really hard semester and my first semester of grad school! I can do better and I will do better. We aren’t always perfect at everything we tackle right off, but we get better at it, we learn, we grow, we don’t let one ‘failure’ stop us. So all these things that are stressing me, they are the most beautiful stressors I’ve experienced thus far in my life.
