Sooooo I hate deep water. Scary fear. A mix of the fear of the unknown, fear of slimy creatures, not being able to breathe.....well I got down 6m and survived!! Thanks to my man meat for pushing me to dive deep 🖤
One thing I do leading up to a race is get in at least one or two open water swims prior to race day. I’ve found that it helps get me mind focused on what’s to come and relieves some anxiety.
Open water is different in so many aspects. I’ve been to several clinics, all from different coaching groups, and each time I walk away with something new. From understanding which way/side I pull stronger, to drafting, sighting, dolphin diving the bouys to get out of the pack turning, learning to swim across other swimmers, and one of the most important anxieties I’ve had is being kicked and hit in the face and being swam over. It WILL happen! Know what you’ll do if you need to adjust your goggles, realign in the pack, etc. Plans may not work out, but it won’t take you out mentally if it happens. It gives you the opportunity to regroup and push on with the race.
Here comes athletic son number 1! Looking strong in the Elementary School triathlon on Friday 💪🏻. Rosco is not always competitive, yet so determined in his own quiet way, I can see a lot more “mum on the sidelines” moments coming up in the next ten years. Very proud of you Rosco, and all his friends who took on the heat to show their stuff and enjoy a little competition. (And yes, that’s Adam running alongside as he comes to the end of the run!) #cisinspires#yougottatri#triathlon#swim#bike#run#getoutside#getactive#caymanislands#newmansincayman
Wishing I was here instead of sweating in my hot apartment but I’m finishing up your kinis before the hot weather kicks in!
I’m sending out a few lucky (and helpful) ladies some bikinis this week along with some promo codes! So keep an eye out for those☺️
