Posting in black and white today for suicide awareness with @in.ecstatic.motion and @sultryabyss. Not every day is going to be a good day. I’m fighting some loud negative voices in my head the last two days, and while they have been winning in small moments, I’m keeping them at bay. I crushed them last night while I crushed myself at the gym for a needless and yet very needed third gym session. It’s ok that I’m fighting. Its ok that it’s a struggle some days. Some days the sky is just a little more grey. But there is always a reason to fight. I was sitting outside this morning after teaching and trying to calm my thoughts (because it’s cold, but the sun on my skin makes me so happy) and center myself. Doggo walks over, no call, no command, and sat there next to me. The entire time. I don’t know if she knew or it was coincidence, but I told her she could go inside (she knows inside) and she sat there until I got up. My reason to keep breathing and fight for those five minutes. Your reasons can change. They can be small. It can be as small as because you want to have a brownie again, or as meaningful as because you want to see someone you love- the scale of it doesn’t matter. Deep breaths. Head up. Keep fighting. #fightforit#suicideawareness#yogisforsuicideawareness#forceforgood#meditation#findyourfight

Don't forget this concert is less than two weeks away. Buy your tickets and help spread the word !!! What this event is all about: My nephew Conner was a junior in High School when he look his life in October 2016. Conner's (incredibly strong and amazing) parents know that others have suffered the same loss, and that mental health issues and suicide are a leading epidemic among our teens and young adults. Taking Conner’s memory and turning their loss into something positive - this is the ConnerStrong way. With that, they formed the ConnerStrong Foundation.
The concert - that has seriously awesome, straight from Nashville talent - will benefit the Foundation. Proceeds will be used towards mental health awareness and suicide prevention, as well as grief and loss support to those left behind dealing with suicide loss. - Buy show tickets here: https://www.ticketfly.com/purchase/selectSeats?utm_medium=ampOfficialEvent&utm_source=fbTfly&id=1659545&seatSelectorOnly=true - Learn more about the ConnerStrong Foundation: http://www.connerstrongfoundation.org/ #ConnerStrong#ConnerStrongFoundation#music#concert#jamminjava#fairfax#suicideprevention#suicideawareness#outofthedarkness#family
Yesterday’s board meeting with the @andyhullsunshine Foundation was nothing short of a success. ☀️ Staying current in the statistics that are plaguing our state is so important but we also discussed how to lead the conversation about suicide and mental health in order to CHANGE those statistics. Doctors, lawyers, teachers and so many other valuable professions make up our board and it is an honor to serve alongside them in our fight against suicide. #AHSF#YouMatter#suicideprevention#suicideawareness#mentalhealth#execboard#missaz2018
I’ve written a new blog post on the time I had a nervous breakdown, suicidal ideation and the tragic death that finally gave me clarity. Suicide is a taboo subject that should be discussed more frequently. I hope that by sharing my story, others may feel less isolated. You can read it by clicking on the link above. .
Suicide causes immeasurable pain, suffering, and loss to individuals, families, and communities in different part of the world especially in third world countries.
Suicide is when people direct violence at themselves with the intent to end their lives, and they die because of their actions.
A person attempting suicide for several reasons may display different signs below;
1. Talking, Planning or looking for a way to kill themselves, such as searching online, stockpiling pills, or newly acquiring potentially lethal items (e.g., firearms, ropes).
2. Using alcohol or drugs more often than usual.
3. Displaying extreme mood swings, suddenly changing from very sad to very calm or happy.
4. Talking about great guilt, shame, trapped or feeling of no solution to current faced circumstances.
5. Giving away important possessions, Putting affairs in order, making a will.
Suicidal thoughts or actions are a sign of extreme distress and an alert that someone needs help so all talks of suicide should be taking seriously and a mental health practitioner should be contacted. We'd be here to largely help out.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Chicago PD uploaded a video on You Tube “CPD Vídeo Series Presents: You Are Not Alone”. To raise awareness for suicide prevention, The stresses of a police officer on and off-duty. A suicidal person may not ask for help, but that doesn't mean that help isn't wanted. It’s A demon that’s eating them alive, People who take their lives don't want to die they simply want to stop hurting. Yesterday we lost one of our own. We never know why someone decides to end their life but just like in this video I will use the hashtag #talktome We are family. We all have been in your shoes and have a story of triumph after a rough situation. This day never gets any easier. 10 years my Papa has been gone and 9 years my Uncle Jimmy. I am missing you both so much. I know you are watching over Mia and I everyday. I know that you heard my prayers the other day, Papa, when I almost lost my dear friend the same way I lost you. Thank you!! I love you both with all my heart. #restinpeace#suicideawareness#myangels#gonebutnotforgotten
