First time having overnight oats in ages!!! This was a super simple one with just chia seeds, cacao nibs, raisins, vanilla essence, and water.
Yesterday I was trying to give my body a chance to reset so didn't eat much - couple apples, a few easy peelers, a pear (and two half pints lol). Feeling much less bloated today and lookin forward to eat in a great big salad later! Anyone have any tips on how to avoid bloat and lethargy through diet changes??? #sugarsmart#sugarsmartuk#sugarsmartBANES#vegan#whatveganseat#overnightoats#fruit#bloated
When u need cake for life admin, @cascarabath is the place to go. Not sugar smart but this is life - This is why it's not a super clean green healthy fitness account. I am just a girl tryna get out of the grips of the massive industry behind sugar and junk food, but also ya gotta #keepitreal .

Having to eat my lunch with a lil teeny fork which is making me chuckle 😄 I've got a Linda McCartney (vegan) sausage roll, spinach, and a medley of baked sweet potato (with cayenne, paprika, turmeric, salt n pepper, and cinnamon), and red pepper, celery, chickpeas, carrot n mushroom with some passata. Deeeeelicious and just what I need after a GREAT HIIT class - lots of upper body work and sweat I love it. 😅💪 #sugarsmart#sugarsmartuk#sugarsmartBANES#vegan#hiitworkout#gym#spices#veggies#wfpb#veganfood#lunch#fork
Here at #SixAgency we're with @jamieoliver. We've #AdEnough of kids being bombarded with #junkfood ads. The more junk food ads young people see the more of it they eat. Currently, the only ad-blocker they've got is covering their eyes – that's crazy. The government needs to step in! 🧐 #sugarsmart#healthylifestyle
The final weekend before the kids are back at school, after the Easter Hols. Lots of our mini patients have taken the opportunity to visit us for their regular check-up...remember NHS dental treatment is available for FREE for anyone under the age of 18. Take your kids to the dentist as soon as their first tooth starts to come through and keep going back as often as your dentist recommends 😁 #change4life#dentalcare#kidsteeth#kidshealth#toothbrush#sugarsmart#dentist#brushingteeth
Just treated myself to lunch at @thecakerybath because I only just found out that they do vegan cheese toasties!!! Something I've felt has been lacking in Bath for so lonngggg. They also have low sugar vegan cakes, so I obviously was obliged to try some... hehehehe 😇
So full now I just want to lie down and read my book, but alas, back to work I go.
Also as a side note: while I was sitting in there a person came in and - long story short - said she wasn't eating carbs (diet) but then had a piece of caramel brownie... now I'm not in it for shaming other people but PSA carbs don't deserve to be demonised! If you're trying to eat healthy/lose weight/etc fine, but sugar should be the first thing to go! With no nutritional value, and pretty much all the negative health impacts, sugar doesn't need your love if you're trying to get on a health kick. (Says the girl who just ate carbs and cake for lunch. Told you there's no shaming here). #sugarsmart#sugarsmartuk#sugarsmartBANES#vegan#vegancheese#toastie#cake#vegancake#widcombe#carrotcake#veganbath#bathvegans#dietculture#lovecarbs#loveyourself#bodypositive#bopo#noshame
Roasted sweet potato and corn on the cob, steam fried spicy broccoli, courgette and peppers, and tasty, simple dressed salad. Love going over to Nick and Mich's! Head to @thegrocercafebath for outta-this-world food. And keep an eye out for their new veggie/vegan cafe on Chelsea Road soon!
When Nick talks about food, the passion and the love just ooze out of him, he fucking knows how to handle delicious morsels and transform fresh ingredients into a magical experience.
Getting my first coffee of the day from @pretamangeruk (thanks for the cheeky 50p discount for bringing a reusable cup), and out of curiosity - because I know it's vegan - I picked this up. In this little mouthful of yumminess there are 5.8g sugar. It could be worse, but it could be better, considering it's only a 34g serving! One fifth of this choc bar is sugar. No thanks, I'll make my own! (Luckily there is a recipe on the pret website so I can make some sugar swaps!) #sugarsmart#sugarsmartuk#sugarsmartBANES#vegan#pret#pretamanger#coconutbites#coffee#sweettreats
This eve I made a cake in the Nutribullet! Gr8 way to cut down on washing up and bowl usage. Chucked together: banana, coconut milk, splash of apple cider vinegar, cacao, and peanut butter & blended. Then added gf flour, dessicated coconut, avo and coconut oil, and blended again. Then added a dash of oats, some raisins, and grated carrot. Va-va-voom! Bake in the oven at 180ish for a while et voila! Sugar free, gluten free, vegan banana choc cake 😋

Got lucky with this reduced @wickedveganuk pizza from tesco yesterday. Verdict: could use more chilli, more mushrooms, and more vegan cheese. But I like the warm crunchy bready-ness of it... Pretty low bar you're setting there... but keep on making vegan food more accessible and easy 👌🍕 I have a friend who said he would go vegan once you could get frozen pizzas in the shop. So there ya go, he will have to eat his hat now. And this vegan pizza. 😊
Eaten with spinach, sweetcorn, and vegan mayo 🤘
Absolutely ridiculous tea time treat before leaving Manchester this afternoon. Oh God. @iceshackm20 you are CRAZY. I had choco peanut butter cake (ofc) with vanilla and blueberry ice cream. My sis had cinnamon chai cake with salted caramel ice cream. Rob had a mocha milkshake. There were so many other cakes, waffles, milkshakes, ice cream flavours, raw chocolate bars, and the most beautiful individually meticulously crafted truffles I've seen in a long time. And it's all 100% vegan. Manchester you are THE BEST.
So *getting real* I know this is all about being sugar smart. But what that means to me - after about 4 months totally 100% added sugar free - is to interrogate labels on things and reject savoury foods that are filled with sugar, or sweet things that just have way more sugar in them than they need! Like some chocolate bars have over 30g sugar in them - that's an adult daily maximum amount and it's not even worth it! Cereal is another pet peeve. Crisps. Sandwiches. Those foods don't need any sugar in them!!! SO yes it's totally great and pleasurable to eat sugar like this once in a while, but being sugar smart *for me* is about sticking a middle finger up to manufacturers who wna profit from making you sick and make shit food taste better by adding sugar (and making it more addictive in the process). MIC DROP.
Me and my sis made our own vegan milk this morning! Blended oats, water, tahini and raisins to give us a delicious milky addition to breakfast. BUT THEN we found out that @asda honey nut cornflakes have 9.1g sugar per 30g serving - and there are NO LESS THAN 5 DIFFERENT TYPES OF SUGAR IN THERE! Brown sugar, sugar, dextrose, honey, and caramelised sugar syrup. NO THANK YOU. breakfast cereals should not have all this sugar in the ingredients! What's wrong with good old fashioned bran flakes? 😯
So consider this your breakfast public service announcement. Always read the label! And don't be fooled by the Green band on the cereal box that says it's high in fibre, vitamins and iron. The cereal industry needs to step up and take responsibility for lowering the sugar content of its products.
We’re really happy to announce that we hold a @bristoleatingbetter Gold Award 😊🎉 The Bristol Eating Better Award Scheme was created to acknowledge food businesses that are taking vital steps to produce healthier and more environmentally-friendly food, and help consumers make better informed decisions regarding sustainable food choices. This Gold Award recognises that we’ve taken actions to provide nutritionally balanced dishes which are low in sugar and saturated fat; to source local produce and accept the @bristolpound; to take measures to reduce food waste; and of course to serve meat-free alternatives with plenty of vegetables and high fibre ingredients!
You can view the full list of pledges on the @bristoleatingbetter website, and we welcome any questions about what we’re doing in order to keep up these promises 🙊 We know that in this day and age it’s tricky to trust in some areas of the food supply system and the industry as a whole is seriously lacking in transparency. With this in mind, we’re always happy to chat openly about all of our suppliers and production methods; address any concerns customers might have about where their food comes from or how it’s made; and explore ways that we can improve going forward. Thank you @bristoleatingbetter and @sugarsmartbristol #bristol#vegancomfortfood#sustainablefood#sustainability#veganfood#sugarsmart#healthyfood#healthyeating#healthy#ethicaleating#localfood#veganstreetfood
