“Somehow we’ve come to believe that greatness is only for the chosen few, for the “superstars”. The truth is, greatness is for us all. This is not about lowering expectations; it’s about raising them for every last one of us. Greatness is not in one special place, and it’s not in one special person. Greatness is wherever somebody is trying to find it. Find your greatness” - Nike.
#yourThielstory - “I picked Thiel because they had a marching band, and I’d be able to twirl. A lot of colleges don’t offer that. I think it’s been a huge opportunity for growth for me. I started on the majorette line my first year at Thiel. Then, as a senior this year, I was a feature twirler. The experiences I’ve had with the band gave me a lot of confidence, which I was then able to apply to interviewing for internships and jobs. I’ve had a variety of internship experiences. I had the opportunity to participate in the Disney College Program early on in my college career. My worry, though, was that I wouldn’t graduate on time. However, after I talked to some of my professors about the program, they assured me I would be able to do it. I had the chance to be exposed to so many different people while I worked there, and I was able to practice my communication skills. Some of my other internships included working in development and fundraising for a nursing home, management, online sales, and statistical analysis. Getting exposed to different types of work is great because I’m then able to use these experiences to help me find a career I’m passionate about. Now I’m getting ready to graduate with three majors. There’s a lot of good people and resources at Thiel. Lean on the people around you and get involved. You’re here for four years and you should enjoy it.” – Dana Depaulo ’18, business administration, human resource management, marketing, and advertising major
