A little over a year ago I made a commitment to a shy, insecure kid inside of me. I discovered the freedom and empowerment that comes from doing something that didn’t come easily to me... running. There is an unparalleled self-esteem and confidence that comes from racing ...the heart pounding starting lines ...the chaos of bag checks ...the excitement of “halfway done” ...the rush of the final 100m sprint. That is why I train so hard ...that is why I make the time ...that is why it takes priority. I don’t run with my legs, I run with my heart.

Clean progression
Work on the mid-pull to improve your clean technique. Pulling those elbows back beyond your midpoint teaches you the correct movement for the clean. You keep the kettlebells close to your body and the bells will rotate around your forearm instead of slamming your forearms. Make sure the power is coming from your hips and you aren’t trying to muscle those kettlebells up to the rack position. -
Today we did a complex of 5 reps:
1 double swing
1 double mid pull
1 double clean

Felt just peachy 🍑 in my @gymshark leggings (and twinned with the queen @desb___ heey 🦄) but in all honesty I am kind of disappointed in these. They were WAY more see though than advertised and I had to plan my undies accordingly 👙 (I didn't have this issue with my teal pair) - just something to keep in mind if you're trying to spend 2-3x the value of these on the black (posh) market ⚫

Besides that though I felt like a little scoop of sherbet walking around the gym tonight 🍦 I took some videos of my chest and bis workout and was absolutely planning on sharing, but after reviewing them I found my form has been pretty 💩ty. I MIGHT be a slight perfectionist but I want my posts about my workouts to be informative and helpful, and I didn't see the value in showing you workouts that weren't done to their best potential. So sorry for just the selfie today 🤷‍♀️ hope everyone is having a good start to their week 💕

I remember learning to scuba dive with my father.  We were doing a ‘buddy breathing’ exercise at about 30 feet, where we shared a regulator.  With a full breath in his lungs but no regulator, he panicked for air and ripped mine out of my mouth before I could breathe.

My father loved me deeply.  But in the moment where the scarcity hit his brain, he was in madness.  He didn’t care that I was his son, he just needed air.
.
Wherever in our lives we feel scarcity we will become mad.  Maybe it is scarcity for love, or scarcity for money.  Sometimes the scarcity is real, but sometimes it is all in your head.  Sometimes, you have a breath full of air, and all you need to do is relax and be patient.

For most of us, abundance is much more of a mindset than a physical reality.  And that abundant mindset creates the reality.  No one wants to give anything to a mad person.  A mad person is drowning and will pull you down with them.  A person in abundance has spare to give.  You can trust that whatever you give them, they will have something to offer in return.  This is especially true when it comes to Love.  If you are abundant in your own self love, you will always have love to share, so you will attract more love.  If you are abundant in your mindset with money, people will want to invest with you, because they will trust you will give them the money back.  Choose to be in abundance and abundant you will be.

slow eccentrics for presses to gain control over the movement, drop the ego, go lighter & focus on the targeted muscle. also stayed as vertical as possible to take out any pec minor involvement - ended up not doing any main/direct chest exercises today, I’m trying to limit my gym hours [a bit] to see if this helps me sleep maybe #fingerscrossed - it better be worth it 😤

I've had pancakes almost every day after the gym 😁 My macros are 200+ carbs for my weight training. But  you have to remember not to be discouraged! Everyone's body is different. I personally don't gain fat from eating lots of bready foods. My body responds well to that. It's a lot of adjusting and experimenting what your body needs. Your body needs fuel. Don't restrict yourself with low calories or crappy diets. Strive for being strong. You'll have days where you look like a bloated float for a parade and days where you'll feel like the terminator. Whatever day you're having just keep working out and everything will fall into place. 🙊🙉🙈 .

#benchday was fun. Close Grip doubles against doubled over monster minis (not sure what the tension is): 275/300/315. Had to get a bit of help on the 315. Didn’t get enough speed off my chest and the bands took over and pulled the bar back over my shoulders. Couldn’t come back from that. Switched grip to comp grip and added the @benchblokz 2 board for more doubles: 335/350. These hurt a bit. #benchday  was fun. Close Grip doubles against doubled over monster minis (not sure what the tension is): 275/300/315. Had to get a bit of help on the 315. Didn’t get enough speed off my chest and the bands took over and pulled the bar back over my shoulders. Couldn’t come back from that. Switched grip to comp grip and added the @benchblokz 2 board for more doubles: 335/350. These hurt a bit. Threw a few things together: stew meat, chopped cabbage, sliced mushrooms, mix of broccoli & cauliflower, few splashes of coconut aminos, garlic, few sprinkles of Nom Nom Paleo’s magic mushroom powder. Cooked the meat in 1 tbsp of butter with some olive oil and garlic. Seasoned with the powder and some pepper. Removed meat left the juice and cooked all the veggies. Added back the meat and mixed with coconut aminos. Yum yum yum.

Leah has been working very hard in the gym and lessons about 3 times a week. Since barbell training, her heel depth has gotten so much better. Her ability to utilize her hands and legs simultaneously to achieve a desired reaction from her horse has really increased. Barbell training has helped her so much in achieving the mind-body connection we need when we ride. Keep it up Leah!! ▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️▪️

Transformation Tuesday: Pull-ups then and Now!💥

I've come a long way with my Pull-ups as you can see - 6 years between the two videos! I didn't just magically get here! I put in the time and effort. I kept showing up and putting those reps in.💪🏾

I cringe looking at the body mechanics in the left video. Horrible form, swinging, you name it, but I kept at em. Trying just to get reps in no matter what, which I don't recommend, but I wanted to show you this video real and raw - not perfect (perfection doesn't exist), but I was working on it. Loose body, core not engaged, hyperextending my back, pulling with my arms first, etc. etc.

Before we move on with the rest of the post: If you are starting out doing bodyweight movements like pull-ups, don't sacrifice form for reps. Always be in control and have proper form.

So, the crazy thing is, I'm much lighter (scale weight) in the left video - dieting days - dieting, restricting, trying to get smaller. I'm heavier on the right, more muscle, and much stronger! #STRONGAF
.
On the right, my form is on point - more reps; reps are smooth. Better body mechanics - body is tight from head to toe; core and glutes are engaged. Initiating each every pull with my back, no swinging. Whoop whoop, I've come a long way! I still have room for improvement.

I'm so happy to have tracked my progress from the start. It's so valuable ladies. Keep a training journal so that you can see how far you come, also, take videos like I have. When you look back, you'll be able to see how far you have come. Videos are also great for checking your form too!

If you want to get better at something; you gotta put in the work and have a good attitude about it.
.
You have to practice; you take action on it all the time, you gotta put in the reps, you gotta put in the work. Don't give up even when things get tough. Sure, take a break, but always come back and give it a go.
.
So, if you want to master your pull-ups, you gotta put in the work and please stop saying you CAN'T because you CAN. Attitude is everything and a bag of chips.
