Summer.... a season full of tasty and colorful fruit with one of them being strawberries 🍓
It's better and healthier to consume fruit and veggies based on the season of the year.
🔹Because in-season products are taster, fresher, sweeter and perfectly ripe. They have been harvested the right time, with the right conditions and definitely contain all the nutrients they are supposed to.
When crops are transported, they are harvested earlier and they need to refrigerated in order not to get spoiled, thus losing their flavor and some nutrients
🔹They are usually free of contaminants, pesticides and herbicides while fruits and veggies transported overseas tend to be full of these chemicals and it is unknown whether the agriculture areas they have been harvested, have high levels of heavy metals and toxicity
🔹Nature knows exactly what your body needs to survive through each season of the year, therefore it provides us with all the nutrients we need. Just think it this way. For example during winter nature provides with a lot of citrus which are high in vitamin C in order to have a strong immune system. Further more many winter veggies they are eaten better as hot meals to keep you warm. In contrast during summer, nature offers us refreshing sweet fruit to keep us cool, full of carotenoids to protect us from the sun
