Although late I made it in and did a few things here and there.  Figured I'd burn off some energy to hopefully help me get straight to bed rather than tossing and turning... Started off with some #cardio then went for #frontsquats @ 95lbs for a set of 10, before bumping up to 135lbs for a set of 8. Bumped up to 185lbs for a set of 4.

Then switched it #backsquats and went up to 225lbs for a set of 8, then 275lbs for a set of 4 before going to 315 for 2x2.

Switched it up to #deadlifts did #straightlegdeadlifts @ 135lbs 2x15 then bumped up to 225lbs for a set of 8 before bumping up to 315lbs for 2x2, wanted to do more but must've positioned myself wrong and bothered something.

Anyways after that I went for #backextensions after I #rolled my back to help the pain.

Then I finished off the night with more #cardio on the #Treadmill.

In honor of #humpday๐Ÿซ, here is one of my new favorite glute focused workouts. Why have I just now decided to try these?!? I perform straight leg deadlifts on a regular basis, but standing on a bench takes them to a whole new level!! My glutes (and hammies) were on ๐Ÿ”ฅ half way through my sets. I completed 4 sets of 12 reps at the heaviest weight I could handle without getting pulled down ๐Ÿคฃ With the added height of the bench along with a little distance between the cables and the bench, I could feel a greater focus on my glute muscles than when I perform regular straight leg deadlifts. The key is to really focus on activating and using your glutes to pull the weight back up to the starting position. Often I see this movement done wrong in the gym by either going way to low on the downward motion or by overextending at the top when squeezing. Here are a few tips to make the most of this movement:

CUES TO PERFORM PROPERLY: -
โœ… Stop when max tension is on your hamstrings. Meaning the bar doesnโ€™t have to go all the way down, you will hit a point at the bottom when your lower back will have unnecessary stress placed on it by thinking you have to go all the way down. WRONG! Once you feel the MAX, absolutely most tension in your hamstrings hold that for 1 second then return back up.
โœ… Neutral lockout meaning your not hyperextending your back when at the top of the movement. All too often I see people thinking to lock out they have to lean backwards. NO! The point is to SQUEEZE the Glutes at the top of the movement and continue the movement.
โœ… Focus on driving your hips & glutes backward for this motion.

Itโ€™s been a busy 2 weeks for work and just life in general that consistency has been lacking. May have to start implementing 4:30am workouts again since work life and Mom life are both on demand at the moment. The final set of straight leg deads before moving on to lunges this morning.  I truly think that doing this and lunges on a consistent basis are the reason my legs are starting to get jacked.  Itโ€™s done wonders for my no bumbum having self as well haha.

The Deficit Deadlift is a great exercise to add to your workout regimen. The deficit deadlift is done standing 1-4 inches above the ground. Benefits are increased leg drive and strength, lower back and posterior chain strength, greater force production, a better set up, and greater  time under tension.
