The biggest thing I have learnt through the art process is TRUST. 🌀🌀🌀 There are so many choices but now I choose to trust myself enough to step fully into my artist. This leap into the unknown where there are no outside factors telling me what to do means that listening to that inner wisdom and following that intuitive voice is key.
For a long time life has been guiding others art journey in a formal setting of school. I learnt so much and use this amazing skill base that I learnt as a school teacher, every day. My 3 dominant archetypes are artist, teacher and carer and I will always teaching as it is a part of my core.
The challenge in the change is always the learning. This guided path is full of joy and freedom as I find my balance. 🙏🙏🙏
This is the longed for room to breathe that gets crowded out by the to do list of responsibilities. 🌀🌀🌀
This was a huge change but sometimes all we need is one small shift to give us that personal space that nourishes our souls and fills us up on the inside. When we begin caring for ourselves in small ways life seems to flow and we find that desired balance in work and life.
If you could make one change to create a nurturing space for you on your life what would it be?
Day 27- Cosmic Awakening ✨✨ Today I am grateful for authenticity. I’m not gonna lie, the internet has got me in my feelings today. I see so many people who claim to be “spiritual” because they talk about astrology, crystals and like to meditate. These same people are mean spirited, treat people poorly and don’t have an ounce of compassion in their hearts. I know that we are all human and all have our bad days, but how can you claim to be a spiritual person but willingly treat people badly? Without caring about their feelings or their humanity? So today I am grateful for people who are genuine. Who are loving, kind, caring and compassionate regardless of whether or not they describe themselves as spiritual. You guys are the best.
Today’s affirmation is: “I won’t let negative energy lower my vibrations. I will raise them with love and compassion.”
In the cosmos ✨✨ Reworking a mushie painting I did for my bro a couple of years ago! 🍄 It’s crazy seeing how far my art has came and I looooove knowing it’ll get better as I make more - it’s like this continuous cycle of flowing gratitude and love 💖💖
"Mythology teaches you what’s behind literature and the arts, it teaches you about your own life." -Joseph Campbell.
There's a depth to yoga that is lost in our quick translations to English language and western culture. Did you know bakasana or 'crow pose' actually comes from the name of Baka, a powerful demon from the Hindu epics, a creature who was able to take the form of an enormous crow or crane? He was asked to kill Krishna (a symbol of life and sustainable balance) and tricked Krishna by pretending to be a mountain near the riverside. Upon swallowing the unsuspecting Krishna, he felt a terrible burning in his throat and Krishna jumped free as Baka spat him out. The story goes on with more twists and turns... it is a tale of symbolic meaning. Of the unsuspected challenges that come with life, and our ability to act like Krishna and restore balance through awareness integrity and wit.
With this in mind, "Crow pose" suddenly becomes a little more meaningful, no?
Freehand painting in mixed media, meditating on myth, getting beyond the surface.
Come to class if you want to know more, the stories are there to keep opening the mind ✨
Sanksrit Buddha sitting poised on top of a lotus flower. It was often depicted in japanese art that the buddha in the after life sat on top of a lotus flower, and on that flower floating on top of the sea of life as he passed into the next world

✨Timelapse Tuesday!✨ So this is the biggest mandala stone I’ve painted so far and it was pretty big, not gonna lie! (Please excuse my chipped nails and my big ol’ head!😂) I absolutely love these colours; it’s so girly and feminine, and at the same time has such a bold and strong energy. What do you think?😊

I sat with this canvas for a week and then made my decisions. I decided to add more color, to add a border, and to add text. There's text that is visible and text in either English or Sanskrit under each cloth flap. I fell in love with the shadows created by the way the light falls on the pieces of cloth, so I've left the background quiet without color. Now it's finished. The words are from John Astin's song "May All Beings Be Happy" @thisisalwaysit
"May all beings be happy. May all beings be at peace. May all be free from suffering. May all be free from pain"

First experience with gouache paint. I did this watercolour moon a while ago but wanted to try out this new paint. It’s very matte and I’m not sure that I love it but I think it’ll find it’s place into my every day set. Part of my self-promise to #createeveryday 💕 and also a fun technique to get even, circular spatters. If you look close you’ll see how I do it ⭐️
