The Rock of Guatape was on my list of things to do in Colombia before I got here. I was looking forward to checking out the great views and taking beautiful pictures from the top. Unfortunately, a few days ago, as it happens, I got sick. Whether it was food poisoning or altitude sickness, it did me in for two days. However, the symptoms didn't come in until halfway through a 2.5-hour bus ride from Medellin to Guatape. So, here I was in front of this rock puking my guts out in a trash can of a nearby cafe. I was dehydrated and had absolutely no strength to hike the 600+ steps to the top. I felt defeated. So I gave up... Not an hour after arriving in Guatape, I was on the bus back to Medellin. No hike, no views, no photos for me. I had to take care of my body and continue this journey healthy. I hope to return to Colombia one day and hike this beast in the future. Have you ever missed the one important thing on your travel list because of an illness?
Takovou tu skladaci, kterou kdekoliv roztahnu a zalehnu.
We spent last few days in the paradise. And I just realized how much I love forest and deep jungle. I was sleeping the whole night in the hammock for the very first time in my life. Falling asleep while listening night life in the forest. Waking up with the dawning and sounds of birds I could never even think of. And I realize that I need a hammock. For life for real. That one which I can just carry around and put it on any tree and just sleep in. So we just booking another accomodation. And sleeping in the hammocks of courae. And you know, I do not think should be the cheapest option for accomodation, I think should be the most expensive one, really.
