| Sock Sunday | Number Fifteen!!
SS15- This week’s clip has a different point of view. After spending the day at a teaching course for Advanced 1 & 2 Variations the legs (and brain) are a little fatigued.
Commencing sitting on the floor with legs extended out in front. From the hip sockets turn the legs out and in. Like last week’s clip I have added some ‘turn in’ elements.
Remaining in turn out, pointe and flex the feet with a focus on Demi-pointe to pointe with long toes.
Continuing on with ankle circles both inwards and outwards. (You can’t see in the video, but I am holding my knee to ensure the movement comes from just the ankle joint)
Then with a flexed foot, pushing through Demi-pointe to extended toes.
Followed by legs lifts aiming to hold rotation from the hip joint.
Moving into normal good old fashioned pointing and flexing in parallel ensuring that the ankles stay in line. (The overhead view isn’t very forgiving on inwards and outward sickles).
Lastly, doming and piano toes, which does have a different feeling sitting in the floor. More ankle circles and rotation in and out to finish. (the video has been sped up slightly to post)
Focus- Rotation from the hip socket when in turn in and in turn out.
Straight ankles when pointing and flexing, not encouraging any inwards or outward sickle.
Track- Call out my name, The weekend .
